This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement in which you can work part-time at the company location and/or part-time remotely from your home. Multiple locations have been listed but only one position is available.

The Technical Support Scientist is responsible for responding to incoming support requests through a support portal and answering the support phone line.

This role includes identifying and resolving technical and software issues, managing customer expectations, and escalating issues as appropriate to product teams. This position will primarily be responsible for supporting our customized and automated hardware/software solutions for clone screening and high-content imaging.

Support tasks may include answering software application questions, documenting issues/bugs, and assisting customers with instrument and software technical issues. Additional projects to support the customer, company initiatives, and/or other department initiatives will be required as needed.

This is a customer-facing role and is a key part of our front-line support, resources and services that put our customer needs first and help them succeed.


  • Provide daily scientific, technical, and applications support on Molecular Devices instruments and software, in particular clone screening and high-content imaging products.

  • Perform advanced problem solving on hardware, software, and cell-based assays, working with available company resources and escalating issues as needed.

  • Communicate with customers using phone, e-mail, web-based support sessions, and Web chat

  • Dispatch calls to field service when unable to resolve remotely.

  • Update and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database with relevant support case information

  • Perform continuous improvement activities using Danaher Business System (DBS) tools

  • Perform revenue generating activities including sales lead generation


  • MS or PhD degree, or BA/BS degree with equivalent lab experience.

  • Experience with cell-based assays and imaging-based assays.

  • Experience with lab automation systems/software.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills including Office 365.

  • Demonstrates a keen desire to learn and a passion for science and technology.

  • Ability to think logically, solve technical problems and prioritize diverse tasks across multiple projects.

  • Self-motivated, works successfully in both team and individual environments.


  • Hands-on experience with Molecular Devices’ CloneSelect, ClonePix, QPix, and/or ImageXpress platforms.

  • Experience with cell line development.

  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM platforms.

  • 1+ years of customer-facing support experience.
