This position is for Radiometer team co-located with Beckman Coulter team at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore.
IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet, SCIEX, Cepheid , IDBS, LS, PID Digital
The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of highly hardworking software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.
The inhouse teams works in close coordination with other global R&D centers at US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Sweden. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120000 sq.ft.
We are looking for a dynamic Mechanical Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate will be an expert Mechanical Engineer who is seeking an exciting product development opportunity where the key responsibility will be to bring engineering development experience to our Hardware Engineering team.
The primary responsibility of this position is to support our ongoing development programs for both new and legacy products. The Mechanical Engineer will be a critical team member working multi-functionally in supporting legacy instrumentation in cost reduction, product design changes and regulatory and environmental standard revisions, and customer driven product improvements.
The position is located in Bangalore and is part of a team of highly skilled engineers in IDC working for IA team. We are responsible for the hardware design and development for the Immunoassay analyzers as a part of IA business in Radiometer.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager, Immunoassay Hardware team in India Development Center Bangalore.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of projects through conception, definition, design, documentation, and release to production.
Serves as a domain expert in relevant product development projects.
Works collaboratively across engineering disciplines to ensure consistency of common technologies.
Conducts root cause investigations and Failure analyses to solve reliability and performance issues on legacy products.
Designs and analyses mechanical systems to achieve product specifications.
Develops component and system tests to validate the performance of mechanical components which demonstrate manufacturability, compliance with CE EMC, and environmental stress.
Maintains existing products as required to meet safety, reliability, and customer expectations.
Organizes and actively participates in design reviews and project reviews.
Adheres to quality system requirements in the development of new products including all required documentation.
Understands Danaher Business System tools and applies to day-to-day work.
Ensures compliance to organizational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Proficiencies / Skills / Experiencea) Formal Education
- Bachelors/Master’s degree (B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
b) “Must Have” Competencies / Skills / Experience
Should have 5+ years of proven experience in Mechanical Engineering Product Design & Development domain including design, manufacturing, and market use of the product.
Experience with IVD and/or Life Science instruments – a plus.
Familiar with ISO quality systems related to design control and product release requirements and audits.
Experience with CREO CAD Tool.
Proven experience with ASME and/or ISO dimensioning and tolerancing.
Experience in Tolerance stack-up, tolerance calculations, CpK, and measurement methods.
Good knowledge of statistics and data processing.
Mechanical design, modeling, performance analysis, and trade-off analysis.
Packaging of cameras, optics, printed circuit boards, pumps, and valves a distinct plus.
Background in the design and construction of Plastic/metallic/glass components.
Knowledge of instrument enclosure design for EMC/CE compliance is a plus.
Materials and component selection for reliability and chemical compatibility.
Any experience with hands-on machining and bench fabrication is a plus.
Rapid 3D prototyping is a plus.
Good systems knowledge to work within multi-functional and remote teams
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and on multi-functional teams.
Excellent analytical skills and structured approach to problem-solving
Competences within documentation and document structures, as this is a large part of our everyday life.
Proficiency in English both written and verbal
