The Senior Mechanical Engineer position for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for executing design activities and driving innovation in support of R&D and new product development programs.
This position is part of the Hematology R&D Hardware department located in Miami, Florida and will be fully remote working from India. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be a part of the Heme R&D Mechanical Design Team and report to the Nicolas Zamora responsible for designing electromechanical systems for new hematology instrument products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:• Lead mechanical efforts to develop the next generation hematology instruments using innovative technologies.• Support team efforts to design sophisticated products using a strong systems mindset including hardware, software, fluidics, reagents, biologics, leading closure of all technical gaps throughout ideation and development lifecycle.• Drive projects forward utilizing fast-prototyping and other iterative design methodologies, ensuring timelines and requirements are met.• Ensure robust/reliable product design that consistently meets all FDA/ISO/EN and other related standards.• Accelerate design cycles by identifying, engaging, and managing external partners.• Create and present project technical reports to peers and management.
The essential requirements of the job include: • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, MS preferred and 5+ years of relevant industry product development experience preferably in medical device or life science.• Highly-driven, self-motivated, high-output performer, requiring little supervision and can work independently as well as with a team. • Can work with high-level instructions. Is able to see the big picture, extrapolate dependencies, navigate through unforeseen obstacles, and provide a complete, turnkey solution. • Proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and improve mechanical and electromechanical systems using analytical and statistical methods, and CAD and simulation experience, preferably Solidworks.• Proficiency in drafting and structuring engineering BOMs.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:• Medical device design background with technologies such as DC motors, fluidics, and imaging.• Solidworks Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Flow, and Thermal simulation experience.• GD&T
