This position is for Beckman Coulter team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore
IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet and Cepheid.
The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of ground breaking products for Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of hardworking software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.
The inhouse teams works in close coordination with global R&D centers at US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Sweden. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120K sqft.
Our team (that designs and develops console software for our current and next generation chemistry and immunoassay analyzers) is looking to add a smart Staff Engineer. Console software of an analyzer includes a touch user interface, databases and embedded software, requiring you to know diverse technologies and concepts about the system. Analyzers are much more exciting products to develop software for than typical software applications as you are working with electro-mechanical instruments that are key for medical diagnoses. The final, and definitely the most important, part of the role is that we work on products where failure is not an option. People depend on our products to make life-saving decisions. We put in the effort and discipline upfront, so we can sleep every night knowing our customers, and ultimately patients, are getting a product they can trust their lives with!
Lead, mentor and coach a team of engineers to solve tough engineering problems and drive product improvements that have a positive impact on our customers
Design software, write code and author unit tests
Develop a detailed understanding of system requirements (both explicit and implicit), deriving software requirements from product requirements
Investigate software, hardware and systemic problems using a variety of techniques and provide innovative solutions to technical issues
Prepare documentation to align with our design and development processes that are designed to meet requirements of regulatory agencies
Excellent teaming skills to work with multi-functional and multi-site teams in Japan, China and the U.S.
Passionate about the team, customers, quality, knowledge-sharing and cross-team collaboration
Bachelor’s / Master's degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related field
12+ years of software development experience for commercial products, preferably electro-mechanical instruments
8+ years of developing Windows Desktop applications using C++, Visual C++, COM & MFC
Strong experience in designing software components using OOA / OOD methodologies
Strong debugging, reverse engineering and root cause analysis skills
Experience in developing medical device software and knowledge of FDA Quality Systems Regulation is desirable
Experience in Agile software development is desirable
Experience with Win32 application development, relational databases and Microsoft TFS / Azure DevOps are a plus
Ability to travel as needed (minimal)
