This position is for Leica Biosystems team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore.
IDC is a research and development centre with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the centre now hosts 500+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies include Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet and Cepheid.
The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on the development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular Diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as a centre of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of highly talented software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.
The in-house teams work in close coordination with other global R&D centres at US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Sweden. Located at the centre of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120 K Sqft.
Primary job purpose:
The Staff Engineer will own the architectural design and development of software associated with various Imaging applications and workflow solutions according to Leica Biosystems’ processes and quality standards.
Be able to design and develop medical software applications and microservices with high-quality design and demonstrating state-of-art development practices.
Design technical architecture blueprints for various Imaging applications and workflow systems.
Work closely with product management in understanding requirements and translate them down to architecture and design.
Maintaining the technology roadmaps for Imaging applications and workflow solution to support future roadmap.
Provide technical leadership to ensure teams adhere to technical standards and right practices to maintain application architecture, development infrastructure and technology stack integrity.
Drive strategic and tactical decision making from a technology perspective, including software modernization.
Develop a proof of concepts to resolve sophisticated technical challenges
Mentor, train, and lead developers in line with project objectives and priorities
Perform structured code reviews, critiquing code produced by others and providing constructive comment
Deliver detailed effort estimates for software design implementation based on Agile principles
Investigate and analyze software related issues
Own software architecture and design documentation
Configure and maintain development and deployment environments with the Leica DevOps Engineer.
Managing tech debt backlogs and creating a road map for improvement, including developing the business case for investment in resolving tech debt
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
12+ years of total experience having minimum 5 years in C#, .Net with strong architecture, design skills and technically competent in software development.
Experience promoting architecture best practices with non-technical stakeholders.
Experience taking leadership roles in application architecture definition and documentation following best practice processes.
Experience in structured application architectural design of complex software.
Development and Implementation experience with software technologies subjected to project needs that include:
Microsoft .Net Framework C# using RESTful APIs with.NET WebAPI, web applications using.NET MVC.
Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Design Pattern, Multi-threading, Interface definition for diverse system integration.
Database applications using SQL Server or similar
Network and Software security essentials.
Experience in design & development of Web application using Angular, React or Vue.
Strong understanding of cyber security privacy by design concepts to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability in distributed software systems.
Experience in deciding which system/component should implement which function(s): Trade off needs vs design goals vs effort vs testability etc.
Structured approach to problem solving with a sense for technical pragmatism and a strong focus on delivery, without sacrificing quality
Excellent & fluence written and verbal communications skills in English.
Attention to detail, self-motivated, creative and flexible; Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Experience working on medical applications or other highly regulated application domains
Experience with cloud technologies like Azure.
