Esko is seeking applications for Team Leader position, to lead projects in its growing Cloud service offerings.

Esko, part of Danaher Corporation, is the market leader for packaging design and pre-production software. Esko Cloud is the place where packaging professionals collaborate to specify all the details of the packaging found in supermarkets, pharmacies, warehouses, etc. Thereafter, they use Esko software (in the cloud or in-house) to produce the packaging and use the cloud for further collaboration around delivery timing and quality control.

Role / Job Objective :

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled software developers and quality assurance engineers to successfully deliver software projects/products on-time with the desired quality

Responsibilities and Key Activities:

  • Lead the team to successfully deliver project releases on time with desired quality

  • Manage the delivery of project/product from design through to release

  • Provide accurate project estimations, identify resources/competences, develop project plan, and deliver to the schedule. Ensure that risks and issues are identified and managed closely

  • Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination. Ensure awareness, involvement, and support from the key stakeholders - maintaining robust communication on the project status throughout its life cycle

  • Build the team and develop capabilities of the team members by adapting Software product development best practices.

  • Break down high-level objectives into specific software development tasks and follow through on their execution

  • Design overall system architecture, database schema and user interface. Contribute to technical solutions from design through to code level

  • Help with gathering requirements, creating functional specifications, and creating and reviewing user stories and technical specifications

  • Conduct peer code reviews and perform unit and integration testing

  • Analyze, debug, and solve complex technical issues and customer escalations

  • Stay current on software technology, concepts, and tools and competing products

  • Aid in recruitment, assimilating necessary technical knowledge and building team to meet organizational goals

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide timely and frequent feedback, and set objectives for team members

    Qualifications and Professional knowledge :

  • Engineering degree in Computer Science with 12+ years of software development experience

  • 4+ years of proven experience in leading and managing the delivery of software development projects

Technical Skills (Must Have) -

  • Hands on experience in Java based web / cloud development (full-stack web development with J2EE and AWS)

  • Hands-on experience in developing user interfaces with HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries

  • Hands-on experience in Web/Cloud application development using AWS, J2EE, Java Spring Boot and Web Services

  • Must be familiar with Web Application Architecture, design patterns like MVC and capable of making design decisions considering performance and scalability of the application

Technical skills (Additional) -

  • Experience or knowledge of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as ReactJS, Marionette BackboneJS, etc.

  • Experience or knowledge in Scala, Docker, Terraform, Cloud Security, cryptography, and Search engines (Lucene, Elasticsearch)

  • Experience or knowledge in databases like SQL Server or Oracle. Strong knowledge of database design and efficient SQL statements

Leadership skills -

  • Team leading ability, shown by having led a team to work co-operatively with others, continually reviewing objectives and priorities, and accepting collective responsibility. Experience should include direct personnel management

  • Result oriented with strong self-management skills

  • Strategic thinking, demonstrated by an ability to maintain a broad overview of both technical and business challenges to achieve long term goals whilst realizing short term objectives

  • Experience in people management, possessing influencing skills, ability to gain agreement or acceptance through influence, persuasion, or negotiation

  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail

  • Flexible, willing to “go the extra mile” while at the same time being an agile and fast learner

  • Experience and desire to work in a global delivery environment

  • Able to stay calm and friendly and able to demonstrate good composure when handling complicated problems

  • Effective and Clear Communicator, asking right questions, actively listen and ability to collect right inputs
