Danaher Corporation Director Operations/Plant Manager-Berlin (m/f/d) in Berlin, Germany


The plant manager directs the activities of a multi-functional operations or site wide team in pursuit of world class customer service. The plant manager is responsible for providing direct leadership and tactical direction to the site and the operations departments, with the goal of creating sustainable competitive advantage and operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery and cost driven by the leveraging of Danaher Business System (DBS) and culture.


  • Directs the daily operations in order to meet all quality and delivery objectives, drive continuous improvement and meet all Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals.

  • Responsible for all areas of operations

  • Overall responsible for Safety, Quality (Internal and External), On-Time Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity (Labor and Material).

  • Partners with HR in developing talent and making Hach an employer of choice for our associates

  • Owns the continual pursuit of a “Best in Class” culture of Associate Engagement

  • Develops and drives continued Lean Conversion using the DBS Kaizen Funnel, and Continuous Improvement

  • Creates and monitors OPS-Level Policy Deployment (top priority strategic initiatives) by identifying plant operations breakthroughs, building a comprehensive action plan and aligning resources to achieve targeted KPIs.

  • Drive a culture of stretch goal attainment utilizing DBS processes to deliver sustainable results.

  • Develops and monitors monthly operating budgets and capital projects.

  • Ensures all associates are knowledgeable of and comply with standard work policies as defined in Quality Management System.

  • Evaluates Associates performance through structured coaching, performance management and development plans.

  • Develop project management schedules to validate new products through use of Lean and Six Sigma tools to transition from engineering to manufacturing.

  • Responsible for overall building and grounds, including facility regulatory compliance with Safety, Department of Health, and other regulatory safety and compliance bodies

  • Leads the operations and site leadership team with effective communication and engagement activities.

  • Willing to support the team 100% onsite


  • Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline; or equivalent in experience.

  • Lean Practitioner / Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

  • Must be able to speak and write fluent German and English

  • 5+ years Operations / Manufacturing leadership experience in a manufacturing, ideally in instruments production or a related process manufacturing, with a focus on Quality, Delivery and Cost.

  • Proven track record of successful implementation of LEAN/Six Sigma manufacturing tools and techniques.

  • Planning/Organizing: Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources.

  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Ability to analyze technical data and proposals.

  • Ability to work across all disciplines and levels of the organization in a persuasive and credible manner.

  • Provide effective leadership with a passion for driving continuous improvements. Must be fact/data driven with the ability to break down paradigms and barriers.

  • Required competencies include:

  • Strong collaboration skills (communication, tone, messaging, execution, planning, ownership).

  • Fluent in English and German both verbaly and written.
