Position summary:

Responsible for creating, launching and leading Cepheid’s global product pricing architecture to optimize volume / price mix, gain market share and maximize profitability.

Essential job responsibilities:

  • Build and Lead pricing team consisting of Pricing Analysts and Regional Pricing managers ensuring deep expertise and support of Product Management, Segment Marketing and Sales Leaders.

  • Chair Regional Pricing Review Boards to support key pricing decisions at regional levels, including exceptions management (Regional GMs, Sales, Finance, Business Operations)

  • Chair Executive Pricing Committee, supporting strategic pricing reviews and oversight (Finance, Legal, Sales, Marketing)

  • Provide consultative support to Global Marketing, who oversees Cepheid’s overall strategy and strategic adjustments based on changing market landscape, new product introduction, global list price, and related ranges.

  • Determine GPO Pricing (USA) and Channels/Distribution Pricing

  • Drive execution of pricing strategies identified with Global and Regional Marketing, working with key partners to ensure consensus and successful implementation

  • Define, review and implement pricing guardrails and develop, roll out and maintain discount guidelines

  • Establish and maintain pricing tools, processes, and governance, working cross-functionally for process improvement and automation (e.g. work with Sales Operations for CPQ enhancement)

  • Responsible for developing Pricing Training content and calendar. Design, implement and maintain pricing architecture

  • Evaluate marketplace and competitive data to successfully align pricing strategies

  • Monitor key performance metrics and provide input to improve performance on an ongoing basis

  • Evaluate day-to-day pricing activities to suggest improvements in pricing strategy, process or execution

  • Guide pricing team to gather pricing intelligence and perform competitive pricing analysis, leveraging input from Analytics & Insight, regional marketing, sales.

  • Find opportunities for pricing and margin improvement, recommend and coordinate required action

  • Coordinate with Finance to provide input to company forecast


  • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

  • For people managers, ensure your associates attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time.

Minimum requirements:

Education and Experience (in years):

  • Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of experience OR

  • Master’s/Doctoral degree with 12+ years of experience

  • AND 5+ years leading people

  • Familiarity with clinical pricing and reimbursement

  • Experience applying advanced analytics for pricing

  • Shown strong capabilities in Strategy, Marketing, and Finance

  • Superior ability to interact and influence across a large organization

  • International travel up to 30% may be required

Preferred requirements

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience with SAP and SalesForce.

  • Life Science industry experience a plus
