Summary purpose of the position:To support Material and Process Changes within the Biotech Product Engineering group with the technical aspects of Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM). This includes Process / Product Improvements and Sustainment Activities, primarily for Biotechnology Products / Processes and where required supporting other Product Engineering teams and other Business Units.
The job holder will be required to support Product Engineering team by performing change management and documenting product specifications, training instructions, DOE’s, validation studies, product failure investigations, and problem-solving activities in accordance with Pall procedures.
Main duties:Lead and execute Material and Process Changes to existing products, by team working with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Scientific Laboratory Services (SLS), Marketing, and Sales, in accordance with the Change Management Process.Support line transfer and capacity projects at Pall locations.Solve problems by using 6 sigma tools, trend analysis, Design of Experiments, FMEA, process risk assessments etc.Support the design and process Risk Assessment process for changes.Support Application Risk Assessment Process for changes and new / improvement product development / processProvide progress reports as part of Product Engineering projects.Write detailed validation protocols for IQ, OQ, PQ and execute accordingly.Liaise with suppliers of materials and equipment.Take part in “focus team meetings” for allocated projects – be prepared to present details from device manufacturing.
Knowledge & key skills:Academic background within material sciences (closely related area).Knowledge of materials and their properties as used within the Healthcare sector.Experience with new product development & product / process improvement techniques.Knowledge of process validation procedures and techniques, e.g. Process and product FMEA, Ishikawa diagrams, Pareto analysis, parts, and process capability studies.Able to write Validation (IQ, OQ and PQ) documents for product / process changes.
