Danaher Corporation Conference Leader - West Coast in Brea, California

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Conference Leader position is responsible for developing and implementing the sales strategies and objectives, jointly with the other North American sales leadership, required to aggressively drive sales and profitability growth. This individual will work closely with members of the sales leadership team and functional leaders to execute sales strategy, improve market share, and drive top line growth. The incumbent will oversee a region of entrepreneurial remote based professionals. As needed, the Director, Sales is responsible for supporting strategic accounts by maintaining and expanding relationships, developing long-term customer loyalty, and providing enhanced profitability and growth to ChemTreat.

The scope of the Director, Sales Southeast includes the southeastern region of the United States including the Carolinas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Arkansas. This region is a significant part of the North America sales force, with more than seventy professionals managing more than $60 million in revenue.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for leading the Southeast region to provide continued growth in sales and profitability.

  • Keep leadership informed on regional performance and recommend actions for improvement.

  • Leverage and collaborate with Corporate and other regional resources to drive productivity and capture business synergies.

  • Develop and retain talent to assure the accomplishment of current and planned objectives and provide leadership to enhance succession management and business continuity.

  • Develop and maintain awareness of the competitive environment and market conditions to ensure that the region’s plans and strategies will be responsive to change, and will attain market leadership and maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Represent ChemTreat to major global and local customers and provide support for sales and marketing.

  • Oversees, and intervenes as necessary, to address customer interests or concerns by actively identifying and resolving potential problems in a timely and cost effective manner.

  • Ensures a safe, healthy workplace for employees, whilst Health & Safety regulations and procedures are adhered to.

  • Maintains national sales staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Responsible for leveraging ChemTreat’s resources and capabilities in creating value added solutions, while coordinating the involvement of required ChemTreat personnel.

  • Responsible for learning customer operations, understanding customer challenges and providing solutions to meet customer needs while representing ChemTreat’s range of company products and services.

  • Identify business needs and opportunities, as well as develop and implement customized solutions for our customers.

  • Responsible for developing key relationships and maintain relationships through business and social events in support of customer relationships.

  • Meets assigned targets for revenue and profit sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned customers.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Dynamic Leader, who can develop and deliver vision and strategy to our sales professionals and at the Executive level.

  • High energy candidate with a strong base of business knowledge, good communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of success as a sales leader and member of a senior management team.

  • Ability to utilize Voice of Customer (VOC) and Voice of Salesperson (VOS) to segment the customer’s needs and prioritize them.

  • Desire to succeed in a competitive environment.

  • Ability to supply value added results to customers that provide customers a competitive advantage in the market place.

  • Ability to build collaborative teams across regions, functions and businesses.

  • A desire to provide tangible and intangible solutions to meet customer financial and system needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year college degree from accredited institution.

  • Travel expectations of 50% or more.

  • Experience analyzing and understanding the impact of market pressures on the water treatment industry and key accounts. Understanding of how ChemTreat’s offering can be explicitly matched to customer needs given market pressures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Extensive travel is required

  • May require long hours & varied work schedules

  • Constantly required to sit and occasionally required to walk, stand, climb (includes stairs), balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell

  • Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards.

  • Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 pounds and sometimes required to maneuver drums weighing 250-800 pounds

  • Occasionally required to climb stairs and ladders and work at high elevations for extended periods of time.

  • Occasionally required to drive both short and long distances, not to exceed DOT regulations

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for deliveries which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective apron, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.

  • Occasionally in extreme heat conditions

  • Required to use ear plugs for hearing protection

  • Both Indoor and outdoor sites may have high noise levels

  • Site location may be at a boiler house

  • Outdoor site can be located at a cooling tower, water plant, wastewater plant, or a process area.

  • Use of hazardous chemicals is routine.

  • Collaborative working environment working; position touches all levels within the customer organization

  • Trust and respect for customers and ChemTreat field and leadership teams
