You will be a part of the Research & Innovation team and report to the Senior Director of Research & Innovation and be responsible for all scientific aspects of the design and formulation of reagents and consumables for future generation instrument platforms. You’ll be the scientific lead for the Research & Innovation team and will focus on identifying/developing novel reagents and consumables with areas of focus being cytology and hematology stains, immuno-assay and bioconjugation chemistry, and biomarkers. Senior Staff Reagent Chemist. In this role, you will have the following opportunities, but are not limited to:
Drive cutting edge science and chemistry, creative solutions, and first-class development agility and speed through a hands-on and can-do attitude, and strategic alignment and collaboration internally and externally
Contribute to the overall system architecture and product/technology roadmap for the development of new platforms
Translate customers and market needs into scientific criteria, product features, and performance attributes
Work closely with other scientific teams within and across business units in Beckman Coulter Dx as well as across other Danaher Opcos
Interact regularly with external partners and customers to identify opportunities
Develop novel reagents and consumables for new instrument platforms as well as expansion of current platform capabilities
Strategically define, and execute on, product and technology roadmaps and menu expansion
The essential requirements of the job include:
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related fields
15 years of experience in reagent and consumable development, preferably in a medical device/diagnostics or other regulated environment
Deep knowledge of cytology and hematology stains, immuno-assay and bioconjugation chemistry, and biomarkers
Demonstrated strong technical/scientific leadership and communication skills: curiosity, critical thinking, motivated, motivator, influencer, customer focused, accountable, and result driven
Ability to located near Brea, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Chaska, MN or Miami, FL in order to access labs weekly if needed
