We are looking for a dedicated (Full-time) Remote Service Automation Engineer to work with our expert Global Remote team of 10 employees across the world. Do you have a passion for Remote Service? Then we would love to hear from you.

As Global Remote Automation Engineer, you will be responsible to remotely troubleshoot all automation issues (wherever applicable provide a workaround within agreed SLAs) and, where applicable, provide resolutions for and with our clients while following proper escalation channels as needed. You will also be responsible for the technical content within the technical knowledge base by creating original material as well as review of other’s technical content for accuracy and conciseness and supporting cross-functional teams (Automation & Digital + Global Service Engineering) in automation related tasks. You will ultimately be responsible for meeting the service needs of customers and driving high customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Advanced Automation remote troubleshooting at the system level. Utilizing escalation process as needed.

  • Ensure regular interface with key stakeholders (internal and external) on assigned cases. Acts to ensure satisfaction to primary customers to ensure full resolution and proper follow-up proving root cause analysis, causes & effects diagram, and CAPA as required.

  • Working as a member of global teams to provide efficient and cost-effective remote support to all accounts within assigned responsibility.

  • Taking leadership and ownership for driving global remote support process, measure, track, and deliver KPIs delivering the overall success for the team, while keeping customer SLAs (Service Level Agreements) at the forefront.

  • The nature of the Services business dictates that prompt and effective services are available to our customers. Prospective employees should be informed, and current employees reminded that as the needs of the business require, they will be periodically designated as on stand-by for emergency calls. Stand-by status is when an employee is assigned to be readily available and reachable by cell/mobile phone during specified hours. Stand-by time and overtime are not guaranteed.

  • Contribute to a Service knowledgebase creation and actively update and maintain overall knowledge management content.

  • Work closely with Automation & Digital (A&D) team to understand new products under development and acquire the necessary knowledge/information from A&D. Disseminate this information to field-based automation engineers by use of AniPart, online, and face-to-face training as required.

  • Management of knowledge database, build detailed knowledge transfer processes for field support engineers.

  • Develop, train, teach and assist other automation Engineers on advanced/complex troubleshooting and technical fixes within Automation software and hardware.

  • Support to define procedures for field modifications, calibrations, and part replacements.

  • Support creating and implementing the Service strategy for automation projects, both internally and with external customers, including FlexFactory / KUBio and related products.

  • Support development of product and subsystem requirements related to serviceability and diagnosis.

  • Support Automation and Digital team in enhancing customer support-related tasks (Product Care, New Product Introduction, Lifecycle).

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related technological field

  • Five plus (5+) years of relevant experience in automation systems, automation electrical design, or related field, with at least 3 years of recent automation experience.

  • Proven experience in leading FlexFactory and KUBio projects to be key service expert for Automation platforms including automation platforms from Rockwell Automation, WonderWare/Aveva and Emerson DeltaV by providing project-level consultancy and client services around project automation infrastructure design, installation, commissioning, project closure, and inspections/reporting. Ensures regular reporting of testing progress.

  • Solid understanding and troubleshooting skills of automation communication networks including Profibus, Ethernet, and Ethernet / IP. Ability to use and interpret results of tools designed to troubleshoot networks such as ProfiTrace and Ethernet testers.

  • Solid understanding of computer and telecommunication networks and excellent trouble-shooting skills in those environments.

  • Demonstrated skill and prior experience at root cause analysis and thorough/concise documentation of root cause of the customer problem or issue.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with good knowledge of tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical problems.

  • Experience in working with global and cross-functional teams to develop Automation training, documentation, procedures, manuals, etc.

  • Expertise in supporting Automation system development / programming / configuration, FAT, SAT, commissioning, installation, Validation / IQOQ, warranty, and post-warranty service.

  • Ability to write computer software and programs as necessary and able to read and interpret technical documentation (P&IDs, schematics, loop sheets, manuals, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation PLC programming, Siemens PLC programming

  • Familiarity with IT Networking, DCOM Networking, and OPC experience

  • Experience with DCS / SCADA control systems

  • Demonstrated experience with Profibus and Ethernet/IP application layer protocol

  • Experience with one or more of the following platforms: Wonderware/Aveva ArchestrA, Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley SLC/PLC, Panel View, FactoryTalk View SE/PlantPAx, Intellution/iFix, Siemens PLC Step 7, WinCC control system, Rockwell Automation Studio/RSLogix 5000 software or equivalent.

  • Exposure to ladder-based languages on Rockwell Automation and Siemens controllers.

  • Experience authoring/reviewing standard operating procedures / on-the-job-trainings / other controlled documents & demonstrated ability to service industrial automation electrical hardware systems following industry standards (NFPA, CE Marking)

  • Good knowledge and skills in the engineering of Automation for Servo and Motion control / Process Utility / Monitoring Building Management Systems including system design / Bioreactors/ Centrifuge/ TFF/ Chromatography.

  • Advance IT skills, server configuration, switch, and software configuration.

  • Experience configuring DeltaV control systems, working with FOUNDATION Fieldbus and other "bus" technologies (e.g. Profibus, DeviceNet, AS-I Bus,EthernerIP),

  • Experience with operating systems (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016), AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Office Suite.

  • Understanding and experience in set up of OPC server and its maintenance, work with SQL queries, and interacting with SQL databases/networking.

  • Willing to work with extended global assignments and available for irregular working hours while in project go-live phase.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle/resolve difficult technical issues.

  • Strong customer service skills, Highly motivated team player, prior project, or technical leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to train/mentor peers, ability to stay calm in pressurized situations and coach people through solving problems, strong written and verbal communications skills that can effectively communicate with a diverse workforce.
