The Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, direction and strategic partnership across a wide variety of legal and compliance matters for Cepheid’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business, with an initial focus on UK, the Nordics, the Netherlands, the Baltics, Belgium, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland, but partnering more broadly with EMEA business leadership in London. The role also supports Danaher Diagnostics in the Nordics, the Netherlands, and the Baltics.
This position is part of the Legal and Compliance Department and will be located in London, UK, on a Hybrid mode. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Draft and negotiate commercial and other transactions, including supply, services, sub-contracts, procurement and collaborations, with public authorities, private partners, NGOs and government agencies across EMEA.
Build and maintain positive relationships with local leadership and other strategic partners within Cepheid and Danaher Diagnostics, proactively advising on prioritized projects and risks; identifying, monitoring and improving key processes and internal controls; managing stakeholders; and aligning with / escalating to broader Danaher Legal and Compliance leadership.
Advise on Quality and Regulatory Affairs, privacy matters, and resolve disputes with third parties, including selection and management of outside counsel as appropriate.
Support the Cepheid and Danaher Diagnostics Compliance Programs, including: 1) implementing polices and procedures, 2) providing training to stakeholders as needed, and 3) conducting / directing internal investigations.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Qualified to practice law in England.
7 or more years of legal practice, including public procurement agreements and healthcare industry experience (Medical Device, Biopharma, and / or Life Sciences).
Excellent communicator who can explain complex legal issues and provide understandable, practical advice to non-legal audiences of varying size and leadership levels.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced, international environment, collaborating with geographically dispersed teams and traveling occasionally as necessary.
Commitment to acting with integrity.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Project management skills, including driving and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects and regular and transparent reporting on progress in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated mental agility learning substantive areas of law and anticipating business / operational needs to efficiently deliver results, in a continuous improvement and process-oriented mindset.
Share, and promote an environment for others to share, new legal / regulatory information, e.g., through communications and / or training.
