As part of the Leica Biosystems infrastructure team, the Network & Security Engineer will design, implement and maintain a cycle of continuous improvement of the core infrastructure focusing on network integrity and IT security.
All of the responsibilities we will entrust you with:
Deploy and maintain local and wide area networks for Leica Biosystems and the operating companies that Leica Biosystems supports.
Create and maintain accurate network documentation while conducting research and recommending improvements to the production network.
Influence IT and business leadership on future technologies that will improve network performance overall.
Provide tier 3 customer concern for solving sophisticated network issues and participate in tier 3 'on call' rotations with other network team members.
Maintain global sites in alignment with current standards and provide a roadmap for future standards and technology improvements.
Ensure global network meets or exceeds current regulatory and internal security standards.
Able to perform hands-on tier-3 support for a wide range of security technologies.
Respond to timely security event notifications from the security operations center according to SLA.
Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities.
Perform Information Security analysis and provide metrics and reporting as required.
Provide inputs for formulating security architecture recommendations and design of security services.
Ensure alignment to standard methodologies in accordance with information security practices, industry standards, and corporate policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain appropriate Information Security user documentation as well as providing reviews and updates of existing policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with all audit requirements including change control procedures and data security.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of education and training.
A minimum of 5+years of experience with proven abilities and experience in the following areas:
Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, Cisco wireless solutions (including Cisco Meraki products), Cisco IOS & IOS-XE routers, as well as routing protocols and topologies such as BGP, OSPF, VRF, DMVPN.
VPN technologies (IPSec, GRE, DMVPN, DTLS), Firewalls (ASAs), authentication protocols and implementations (ISE, TACACS, RADIUS, 802.1x)
Working knowledge of various privacy, risk, security standards and practices with a consistent track record in identifying, selecting and deploying common security tools and products
Experience working in a security operations center; investigating, responding and/or prioritizing security events with strong interest and knowledge of security technologies and trends.
Travel required up to 30% of the time; both domestic and international depending on location of hardware deployments.
Typical work related travel assignments range 1-2 weeks and as such overnight, out-of-town and/or country stays are required.
Able to work in datacenters or small computer rooms.
