The Data Governance Lead is responsible for defining, implementing and managing data governance frameworks, policies and standards. The role w orks on the design and implementation of practical data governance solutions leveraging the latest data technologies to support organizational needs , i dentifies opportunities and makes recommendations to improve the quality and trustworthiness of data throughout the organization .

This position reports to the Director of Data Management and is part of the Data & Analytics Department located in Cambridge, UK and will be a hybrid or fully remote role. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead a nd develop high visibility projects together with the customer data governance team

• Drive customer data quality at abcam to enable analytics and artificial intelligence

• Design, enhance and implement data lifecycle processes

• Orchestrate companywide change management for customer data

• Manage and evolve the abcam data catalog and data glossaries

  The essential requirements of the job include:

• A bachelor degree or higher in Business Administration (MBA), Computer Science, Information System s or comparable

• 3 or more years of work experience in data governance, data management or process engineering

• D ata analysis and supporting programming languages (eg. Excel, Python, SQL)

• D ata visualization (eg. Tableau, PowerBI, Excel)

• Project management (agile and waterfall)

  Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• The role is expected to travel 5% or less across the abcam sites ( e.g. Europe, US, China)

  It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Team leadership and developing talent

• orporate change management
