The General Manager will be responsible for running the IDBS company and growing the Informatics Solutions business of the Danaher Life Sciences Platform serving pharmaceutical and biotech markets. Working closely in partnership with Danaher organisations and external customers. S/he will have P&L responsibility for this business including establishing the business strategy, identifying future growth by evaluating organic and inorganic opportunities, driving flawless execution of the sales and professional service strategy, software engineering & SaaS service delivery, R&D, executing the new product roadmap, service availability, performance, quality, on-time-delivery and attracting and developing a winning team. S/he will act as an ambassador for the Company and interact with the external environment and with colleagues and peers worldwide.

Execution of strategic business plan that ensures profitable revenue growth: The candidate will be responsible for overall revenue generation and cost optimization of the software informatics business with emphasis on increasing our market share, revenue and gross margins. S/he will need to develop the strategy ensuring that the business enjoys superior growth rates of both top and bottom line by capturing new business opportunities and building upon a strong user base in designated countries.
Developing and Managing the new product roadmap strategy to deliver breakthrough, innovative solutions: The candidate will be responsible for executing a uniform informatics software strategy and ensuring a strong, customer centric culture lead by rich Voice of Customer engagements. S/he will need to capitalize on new and leverage existing technologies, products and market position to introduce breakthrough software products that will create a strong and sustainable competitive advantage through timely execution of the defined roadmap.
Building and Managing the organizational foundation: It will be imperative for the candidate to continue to build and develop the organization, by hiring, training and developing highly motivated employees as the business grows. S/he will foster a team based, customer oriented and result driven culture. In developing associates, the candidate will also groom and develop a second line of leaders with potential capabilities and be able to attract and pull talented people to the team. S/he will ensure that the teams are engaged and motivated to achieve long lasting and strong performance while ensuring the necessary training, tools and mentoring is deployed. The candidate will also lead legal, technical and ethical compliance for the organization.
Driving and maintaining relationships internally and externally: The General Manager will be required to build, sustain and grow significant internal and external relationships.
Driving and maintaining the deployment of DBS – Danaher Business Systems: Continuous improvement is our way of life and DBS adoption and deployment provides the resources and tools to manage execution of improvement. The General Manager will be the DBS champion and building capability and continuous improvement culture within the organization.
REQUIRED/ DESIRED COMPETENCIES
BS / MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent; MBA desired
8-10 years of experience in a product development, commercial and / or marketing role coupled with progressive direct management responsibilities of a large multi-dimensional global team. Prior business integration experience is a must.
Demonstrated ability to manage complete P&L for an informatics business that includes software / services development, deployment / support and professional services. The General Manager will be an experienced P&L multi-region leader with a track record in the creation and execution of Informatics strategies that have delivered value in sales growth and profit exceeding the market in highly diversified international organizations.
Strong understanding of bioinformatics application and market dynamics (software technology and application trends), as well as an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape (products and competitive business strategy).
Working knowledge of the commercial fields of applied Bioinformatics applications and Biotech companies. Emphasis on cell and protein biology, bio-analytical measurement applications (e.g., high-throughput screening, genomic and cellular analysis, bioprocessing, etc.), and pharmaceutical and bio-therapeutic development for discovery and QA/QC disciplines.
Solid experience in developing and marketing of software solutions and best-in-class software development practices.
Must have an extensive business management experience at a strategic level and a proven track record of results in Marketing and/or Business Development. Will have a track record of creating and executing comprehensive informatics strategies including the development, implementation and support of informatics architecture, infrastructure, standards and processes that drive revenue and profit growth.
As we plan to grow this new business through organic and inorganic investment, we seek a track record in Merger & Acquisition projects; in particular ability to demonstrate how they have extracted "value" from integrating newly acquired companies.
Must have excellent leadership, influencing and communications skills with ability to lead and work in a complex global matrix team environment.
Experience with international markets along with experience working with sales and support channels in customer facing activities is also required.
