The Buyer will be a critical player to capitalize on our technical and market success, our team will execute small and large-scale projects that will define the bottom-line for the company. The functions within the department include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development, quality, logistics and inventory.

This position is part of the Operations/Plant Management Organization and will be located onsite in Carlsbad, CA as part of the Supply Chain/Logistics Team in a hybrid capacity.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Direct and Indirect Purchase order and supplier management

  • Processing production purchase orders and monitoring requisitions quantities for discrepancies

  • Tracking open purchase orders need by date and update pricing as required

  • Handling returns of direct/indirect material

  • Supplier communication follow-up and corrective action plans on submitted orders

  • Submitting blanket purchase agreements and pricing negotiations

  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships

  • Resolve purchase order discrepancies and invoice issues

  • Analyze procurement data and report metrics

  • Support NPI procurement to achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets on new product introductions and components

  • Assist Engineering, Production, and New Product Introduction Procurement teams when determining best value suppliers, NPI Sourcing plans, Make vs. Buy, Should Cost, Buy complete strategies, and Lead times, etc.

  • Update production and engineering teams on all critical supply issues

  • Aid in the change order management process, setting up sourcing rules, and Oracle ASL

  • Collaborate with the NPI team on setting up, reviewing, and updating part numbers in Oracle

  • Visit supplier’s facilities and accurately assess technical capability, equipment, and capacity

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Knowledge and skills acquired through the successful completion of a bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) highly preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • Prefer 3-4 years of purchasing experience.

  • Prefer purchasing experience in a manufacturing medical device and reagent environment.

  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking/analysis

  • Various additional tasks assigned by the manager from time to time

    It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Strong organizational skills. The ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and Quality System Regulations (QSR’s).

  • Strong listening, verbal, and interpersonal skills when dealing with internal and external customers, vendors, suppliers.
