The Thick Film Senior Specialist is responsible for providing technical thick film and screen manufacturing knowledge and support for the production of thick film substrates and screens to support Radiometer ABL90 and SenDx/Radiometer ABL80/9 blood gas analysis systems. The Senior Specialist will investigate root cause of failures and defects, monitor critical process parameters to support achievement of improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity performance of the thick film & screen departments at the Radiometer Carlsbad, CA site. The Senior Specialist role is responsible for providing education, training, problem solving and troubleshooting activities to other associates in support of the department goals and objectives.
The Senior Specialist is a thick film & screen subject matter expert on both processes and equipment used to manufacture completed substrates and screens for the ABL80 and ABL90 products. Collaboration with Process Engineering, Research & Development internal to the Carlsbad site is required including developing and maintaining standard work.
The Senior Specialist will align with the Value Stream Supervisor and the Manufacturing Lead to prioritize Training, Quality & Cost initiatives, Labor Planning, and manage their execution, balanced with daily support needs in the Value Stream.
Provide expert daily coaching and training to strive for process repeatability through documented standard work for thick film & screen manufacturing processes.
Pursues daily problem solving (Just Do & PSP- Problem Solving Process) and troubleshooting as needed on existing processes and involved in new process development and process transfers as needed.
Collaborates with Engineering / R&D for quality & cost improvements to fulfil department and business objectives.
Provide input into Equipment Capacity & Labor Planning model, including Process Optimizations, OEE and Run Time calculations.
Share specialized knowledge of thick film & screen technology with associates and engineers.
Assist with ECO and MVF change communication and process transfer into manufacturing.
Supports DBS tools and lean concepts in improving manufacturability, productivity, flow, yields, cost, variability, and quality.
May lead or participate on project teams and completes special projects as assigned.
Ensure that proper safety, attitudes, procedures, and housekeeping are maintained on all work programs.
6+ years of Thick Film manufacturing experience, required.
Proven record of accomplishment of metric success within a manufacturing environment.
Prior experience utilizing lean methodology and tools to improve operations &/or overall business processes.
Prior medical industry experience, highly preferred but not required.
- BSc in Engineering, Technology, Business, or Manufacturing Management preferred but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft office.
- Up to 5% domestic may be required
Must be able to read, write and fluently communicate in English
