Would you like to support products you feel passionate about? We are looking for a hardworking & self-motivated Scientist to join our consumables center-of-excellence located in Carlsbad, CA! The critical responsibilities for the incumbent will be (a) supporting technical operations of life science consumable reagents manufacturing (b) support sustainment projects and continuous improvement initiatives in the reagent manufacturing as needed. A successful candidate works closely with multifunctional teams to ensure new products are crafted for manufacturability with an emphasis on scalability, transferability, and process robustness. As a core member of our Technical Operations and sustainment engineering team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate design transfer & design changes and drive continuous improvement projects for existing products to assist Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) and Mass Spec (MS) consumable manufacturing. You will work closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing team members.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is on technical operations such as manufacturing support, solving manufacturing issues, handling product non-conformances, rework instructions, redlines and collaborate with QA/QC to secure the release of life science reagents.

  • Investigates and disposition product non-conformances in conjunction with Quality, MFG, and R&D team members.

  • Leads continuous improvement operations such as validation strategies, process validations, redlining batch records, participate in validation activities, DOE (design of experiments), and implement the process changes through ECR/ ECOs.

  • Handling the document control systems: drafting and maintaining revision control on procedures, revision changes of batch records, labels, inserts etc.

  • Provides technical support and expertise to the manufacturing operations on an as-needed basis to tackle any problems and improve the manufacturing process.

  • Focuses on critical deliverables and high-priority projects, acting as a hands-on resource where needed at the discretion of the manager to ensure on-time delivery of a high-quality product.

  • Leads adoption of the Danaher Business Systems (DBS) throughout the teams to improve quality, delivery, cost, and innovation by applying tools and a continuous improvement mentality.

  • Regular oral and written communication relating to progress and performance of work.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and to perform assignments with minimal direction, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Proven troubleshooting ability, ability to manage & prioritize multiple tasks, and sense of urgency is desired.

  • Experience in developing & executing manufacturing processes, writing procedures, and training manufacturing associates

  • Ability to do root cause analysis and independent investigations to identify the source of errors in manufacturing & support the product non-conformance process

  • Skilled at managing the quality of your work and the work of others.

  • Experience in chemistry or consumables manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with CE and MS equipment would be advantageous.

Education and Experience

  • BS in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or molecular biology. MS preferred.

  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience in consumables manufacturing / product development / or technical operations.
