Essential Duties, Critical Success Factors, Responsibilities, Authorities and Required Interactions:
Support products you feel passionate about! This is a hands-on scientific position supporting manufacturing and testing of LC/MS Reagents & Chemistries. The ideal candidate will have a background developing and validating analytical test methods and formulation processes for complex chemistries and reagents, particularly products with mass spectrometry applications. Key responsibilities include evaluating new product designs, developing and validating formulation and test methods required to build product to specifications, and assisting with implementation and troubleshooting during routine manufacturing. The incumbent will thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial culture and collaborate across multiple global functions including Research & Development, Operations, and Quality & Regulatory Affairs.
Work closely with the LC/MS Reagents & Chemistries R&D team during the product development lifecycle to develop and evaluate specifications, formulation methods, and quality control test methods for consumable chemistry components with mass spectrometry applications.
Develop test method validation plans and protocols, analyze resulting data, and prepare reports.
Transfer manufacturing and quality control testing procedures from R&D to manufacturing and train operators as required.
Ensure that all production and quality control testing documentation is complete and stays in sync with the applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical guidance and assist in trouble-shooting manufacturing process, test method, and equipment issues during routine production.
Assist in investigating complaints and product quality issues, develop and implement improved analytical methods, if necessary.
Closely interact with the manufacturing technical operations team to drive process improvement projects to improve the quality and manufacturability of LCMS reagents and chemistries.
Travel for training and support as necessary (< 10 %).
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience in industry or MS with 10+ years, or equivalent.
Expertise in analytical chemistry including extensive experience with LC-MS/MS including method development, optimization, and troubleshooting; preferably using SCIEX equipment and software.
Experience with preparing and handling complex chemical reagents.
Extensive knowledge of test method development and validation.
Knowledge and experience with manufacturing process development and design transfer.
Familiar with product development in a regulated industry (ISO 9001, 13845 certified, FDA registered).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
