SCIEX is looking for a dedicated & self-motivated Technical Operations Scientist to join our consumables center-of-excellence located in Carlsbad, CA. The critical responsibilities for this role are (a) technical operations support of life science consumable reagents manufacturing (b) manufacturing technology transfer project support as needed. This position will work closely with multifunctional teams to ensure new products are crafted for manufacturability with an emphasis on scalability, transferability, and process robustness.
Essential Duties, Critical Success Factors, Responsibilities, Authorities and Required Interactions:
Provide technical support and expertise to manufacturing operations; solve manufacturing issues, handle product non-conformances, rework instructions, redline and collaborate with Quality Assurance and Quality Control to secure the release of life science reagents; improve the overall manufacturing process.
Active participation in design transfer of new product lines to develop knowledge on the manufacturing process. Work with R&D and process development teams to transfer new products from R&D to manufacturing when required.
Lead continuous improvement operations such as validation strategies, process validations, redlining batch records, participation in invalidation activities, etc.
Investigate and disposition product nonconformances in conjunction with Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D team members. Conduct proof of concept experiments; plan and execute engineering lots.
Focus on critical deliverables and high-priority projects as a hands-on resource where needed, to ensure on-time delivery of a high-quality product.
Ability to work independently and to perform assignments with minimal direction, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and producing work at a high level of quality.
Validated troubleshooting ability, ability to lead & prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to do root cause analysis and independent investigations to identify the source of errors in manufacturing & support the product non-conformance process.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
BSc in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or molecular biology. MS preferred.
2+ years of confirmed experience in chemistry or consumables manufacturing / product development / or technical operations.
Experience developing & executing manufacturing processes, writing procedures, and training manufacturing associates.
Experience with document control systems: drafting and maintaining revision control on procedures.
Familiarity with CE and MS equipment is a plus.
