The Scientist 1-Production Operations for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for producing antibodies used in diagnostic testing using hybridoma cells. This will be located in Chaska, MN.

You will be a part of the science manufacturing team and report to the Sr Scientist, Production Operations. If you thrive in a fast paced, technical role and want to work to build a world-class manufacturing science organization—read on.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Execute the daily production plan to due date conformance and quality standards.

  • Train to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Follow engineering drawings, work order information, SOPs, and other written and verbal specifications in the manufacturing process while maintaining FDA requirements Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO regulatory requirements

  • Handle a variety of cell lines with a strict attention to detail while working aseptically

  • Independently execute work regarding maintenance of cell cultures, processing cellular material and releasing builds according to schedule

  • Perform the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of instruments, such as large-scale bioreactor systems

  • Identify, recommend and implement quality improvements including but not limited to production methods, equipment performance, product quality and efficiencies

  • Learn and participate in the company's lean manufacturing principles

  • Train new team members on equipment operations and work procedures as needed

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Read, write and speak proficient English

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related science

  • Must have demonstrated cell culture technique, especially surrounding aseptic technique

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in a regulated industry preferred (e.g. FDA, ISO).

  • Experience with antibody production is desirable

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly:

  • Standing for prolonged period.

  • Required to talk and hear

  • Using good hand dexterity to handle or feel

  • Reaching with hands and arms above shoulder height and below the waist.

  • Lifting up to 30 lbs.

Working conditions:

Our facilities are a heated, air-conditioned and humidity-controlled production floor and /or clean room environment. Our buildings are modern, with employee accessible WiFi, dedicated break, quiet, and collaborative spaces, and an on-campus cafeteria. We hold several employee appreciation events throughout the year. Our campus is located on Lake Hazeltine with walking trails between buildings. Our location is convenient to central Chaska and Chanhassen shops and restaurants, and we are a 25-minute drive from downtown Minneapolis.
