Position Overview: The Human Factors/UX Engineer (HFE) conducts user needs analysis, task flow analysis, wireframes, interface design, usability testing and use error analysis in an FDA regulated industry for current and next generation laboratory diagnostic systems, data analytics software and standalone software. The individual in this position will work in a cross-functional agile team to deliver products with best-in-class user experience.
Responsibilities: * Apply FDA Human Factors Engineering processes towards the Product Management and Software Development teams by determining customer needs and requirements * Deliver task analysis, wireframe, and user error analysis * Collaborate with software team to define detailed user interface design * Assist and/or develop the Human Machine Interface (HMI) for next generation laboratory diagnostics systems, data analytics software and other standalone software * Plan and execute usability testing, analyze data, document results and present recommendations to product teams * Facilitate and complete use error analyses * Use proven HFE methodologies and tools; recommend changes to improve the overall usability and ensure safe and reliable user experience * Effectively negotiate trade-offs with product management and engineering * Collaborate with other Danaher and Beckman Coulter operating companies using UX principles and methods * Assist in training associates in UX and HFE methods * Author and contribute to HFE documentation needed for creating Usability Engineering File * Participate in the development of medical devices and follow the guidelines of the FDA (e.g. IEC 62366, AAMI HE75) * Occasional travel may be necessary, less than 25% of the time
