The Senior NPD Supply Chain Buyer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for serving on program core teams to provide materials management on New Product Development programs.

This position is part of the NPI Operations organization located in Chaska, MN and will be full-time on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly re-imagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the NPI Supplier Management team and report to the Senior Manager, NPI Supplier Management, and be responsible for securing and managing all materials required to build units throughout the phases of a New Product Development program, from product concept through launch. As part of a successful launch, you will be handing off all materials management responsibilities to the Operations Procurement and Sourcing teams in a sustainable fashion. Furthermore, you will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives, striving to be a best-in-class NPI Procurement organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work closely to support R&D engineers and supply material for all prototype builds leading up to initial production.

  • Manage, track, and report status on all materials utilizing bowlers, dashboards, or other DBS tools.

  • Contribute to supplier strategy, along with maintaining the supplier relationship, setup, and onboarding.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that will result in optimal NPI materials management and associated KPIs; this may include travel 5-10%.

  • Develop automated tools, spreadsheets, dashboards, etc. using system data interfaces for advanced analytics and reporting.

  • Utilize voice-of-customer to lead the seamless transfer of new products from NPD into Operations, with strong internal customer satisfaction from our receiving stakeholders.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in field with 5+ years of experience buying materials OR Master’s degree in field with 3 years of experience buying materials

  • Demonstrated successful experience with supplier relationship management, material sourcing, procurement, and inventory management related to hardware systems

  • Proven experience working with ERP/MRP systems, Oracle preferred, as well as data analytics software, Excel

  • Strong working knowledge of Lean/6 Sigma Supply Chain or other continuous improvement methodologies in a regulated manufacturing environment, resulting in process efficiency

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Leadership on a significant and highly visible continuous improvement initiative, including charter, leading team, project management, kaizen or workshop, deployment, and sustainment

  • Development of an automated data analytics system tool, i.e., advanced Excel, Power BI, Access database, etc., where you did the vast majority of the programming
