Danaher Corporation Staff Manufacturing Process Engineer (Automation/Controls) in Chaska, Minnesota

The Staff Manufacturing Process Engineer (Automation/Control Engineer) for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for providing automation and controls support and solutions in the areas of design, development, validation and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment.

You will be a part of the Consumables Sustaining Engineering Team and report to the Senior Manager who is responsible for meeting quality and cost savings goals through design and manufacturing process improvements.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with internal customers to identify engineering improvement opportunities that support business growth.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve technical issues and improve performance of current equipment and processes.

  • Design, procure, and implement electrical hardware solutions for automated systems.

  • Provide technical support for existing equipment and guidance/leadership for the development of future manufacturing automation

  • Ensure compliance in the design and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment with stated quality and engineering regulations

  • Coach and develop other individuals on best practices in control systems design and troubleshooting

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering, or equivalent technical degree, with 9+ years of experience designing and integrating control system packages OR Master’s degree in field with 7+ years exp. OR Doctoral degree in field with 4+ years exp.

  • Working knowledge of robotics, motion control, servo and drive systems, machine vision applications, and hardware design

  • Hands-on experience programming and debugging automated equipment controls, including PLC/DCS based control systems and various software packages (Wonderware, Rockwell etc.)

  • Experience using Allen Bradley PLCs, Visual Basic or Visual C++ for controls integration and database applications, and SQL database.

  • Detail oriented and an ability to identify technical problems and make recommendations.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Six Sigma/Lean/DBS tools to solve problems, optimize processes, and improve designs

  • SQL Servers/database management

  • Cognex Insight Software

  • Denso Robots

  • Hands-on experience programming and debugging automated equipment controls, including PLC/DCS based control systems and various software packages (Wonderware, Rockwell etc.)
