We are currently hiring a Commodity Lead to develop and implement sourcing strategies that are aligned with business needs for quality, delivery, cost, growth, and risk management . Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain the Commodity Lead is a critical position providing strategic and tactical leadership of sourcing direct materials (raw materials and chemicals) across the organization. This role while posted in many cities is ONLY AVAILABLE onsite at our Torrance, CA facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive ongoing supplier optimization, Sourcing Strategy and continuous improvement for assigned commodity. This includes quality, cost, OTD delivery improvements.
Develop, integrate, and manage preferred suppliers to meet global requirements through systematic performance ratings and Danaher Supply Base Management tools
Develop and implement “best-in-class” supply chain processes and procedures
Negotiates agreements to mitigate supply chain risk and ensure adherence to all key metrics
Leading workshops and Kaizens associated with sourced products
Provide coaching, mentoring and support to commodity and procurement team members
Leads Sourcing effort for new product development (NPD)to ensure new launch sustainment
Drive execution of Purchase Price Variance (PPV) through data analytics and supplier negotiations
Drive execution of Value Analysis, Value Engineering (VAVE) through working cross-functionally with Engineering, Research & Development, Manufacturing, and the suppliers
Build strong funnel pipeline to support ongoing cost objectives
Drive 2nd Source activities to eliminate single source and help drive supplier risk mitigation
Visits suppliers to establish the appropriate commercial framework
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced business degree (e.g., MBA, MS) is preferred
3+ years overall experience in manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, logistics, supply chain, or procurement roles
Key Skills and Attributes used for Measurement of Success:
Strong negotiation skills
Demonstration of continuing education in sourcing and supply chain
YoY improvement in supplier Quality, Delivery and Cost
Reduction in supplier leads times, MOQ’s, and inventory
Improvement of working capital (DPO)
Drive Best Cost Country utilization where appropriate
Supplier Consolidation/Rationalization/Segmentation
Funnel Management to drive cost objectives
Risk Management through robust analysis and contingency planning. Leads Supplier Risk Management
Successful project management through execution of Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and Value Analysis, Value Engineering (VAVE)
