The Alternate Site Regional Sales Director is responsible for the leadership, planning, developing, and controlling of activities to ensure regional revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals are met for the North Central region. Primary responsibility is to mentor, develop and manage a team of senior sales representatives to achieve revenue goals while selling a premium product line in a complex selling environment. The Alternate Site Regional Sales Director will work in a collaborative team selling culture and will help identify and coordinate sales efforts and resources in non-acute (non-hospital) accounts within the region and ensure the development of key leaders with vision to improve strategic account growth. The team will be growing all Cepheid business through the introduction of new diagnostic concepts, closure and implementation of GeneXpert® Systems and a portfolio of 20+ diagnostic tests, including Xpert® Xpress SARS-CoV-2/Flu/RSV, which is the next-generation test to support the global fight against COVID-19.
This position will lead the Alternate Site North Central region and can reside in Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City or St. Louis.

Meet and exceed plan for growth in assigned Region for existing and new business accounts by directing, inspiring, mentor, and motivating representatives to accomplish sales goals.
Manage performance of the sales representatives in assigned region including the responsibilities of coaching, developing, and providing ongoing feedback and mentorship on professional development.
Demonstrate people leadership capabilities by engaging and developing a robust team.
Understand and utilize key influences for developing and closing sales in key accounts
Introduce new testing concepts and products to the market.
Develop and deliver presentations and proposals.
Prospect, recruit, and train sales personnel.
50% travel is anticipated.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of Business, or equivalent diagnostic industry experience
Master’s degree in Life Science (Clinical Pathology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) with 7+ years of Business, or equivalent diagnostic industry-related experience.
1-2+ years leading people
Consistent track record of success in both capital and reagent sales.
Experience in setting both short (1-2 years) and long-term (3-7 years) business strategies.
Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications.
Skilled using a CRM application such as Salesforce.com.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Knowledge of PCR / molecular testing is preferred
