Engineering Co-Ops work with cross-functional Product Development teams on all aspects of complex projects related to product design and development, with a focus on applying engineering fundamentals in a professional environment.
Responsibilities we will trust you with:
Works in a learning mode on a cross-functional project team through all phases of the product development process. Includes planning and executing projects from concept through the launch and initial production ramp-up. Supports lead product changes after launch based on defined needs of the business. Provides support for risk management plans, reports, and utilize risk management tools such as FMEAs for NPD, VAVE and Sustaining projects.
Works closely with other members of the team and suppliers (e.g., component, assembly equipment) to develop products with a focus on customer needs as well as on manufacturability and assembly. Follows the leadership of other members of the project team to define user needs and generate design concepts .
Performs component and assembly evaluations and qualifications and development of product and process validation plans and
Works with design and/or manufacturing engineering and suppliers to understand the considerations associated with manufacturability and works with other team members to produce prototypes and optimize designs for manufacturability.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matters most for this role:
Student working toward a bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering (or related field equivalent) with mechanical emphasis required.
Familiarity with mechanical design processes and capabilities that impact design.
Skilled in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks)
Previous Co-op experience in an engineering
Positive attitude and ability to work closely with entire leadership team to drive change, continuous improvement, and engagement throughout the organization
