As a Senior Development Engineer you will use your project management skills and mechanical design experience to plan and execute medical device design and development projects focused on New Product Development Engineering.
Some of the critical things you will do in this position:
Provide leadership on a multi-functional project team through all phases of the product development process. This includes planning and executing projects from concept through the launch and initial production ramp-up.
Support and/or lead product changes after launch based on defined needs of the business.
Work closely with other members of the team and suppliers (e.g., component, assembly equipment) to develop products with a focus on manufacturability and assembly.
Skilled at leading and accomplishing work through others (e.g., suppliers).
Provide subject matter expertise to the organization across at least one field (e.g., plastics, metals, DFM/A).
Perform component and assembly evaluations and qualifications and leads development of product and process validation plans and testing.
Works with manufacturing and suppliers to produce prototypes and leads activities to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Significantly contribute to aspects of project management including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and contingency planning.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
Bachelor degree (BS) in mechanical, manufacturing, or biomedical engineering (or related field equivalent) with mechanical emphasis.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Expertise regarding mechanical processes and capabilities that impact design.
Knowledge in the application of design controls and development processes.
Understanding of risk assessment activities and risk mitigation techniques.
Understanding of requirements and procedures for process risk assessment and validation.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
Advanced Degree Preferred
Bilingual – Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred
Working knowledge of SolidWorks
Engineering development work experience in regulated industry
Experience with process excellence or a process excellence certification such as Green/Black Belt.
