Title: Technical Operations Scientist/Senior Technical Operations Scientist, IRIS Urine Strips. (x2) Career Band: P3/P2 depending on experience.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be part of the IRIS Urine Strips Technical Operations team in Clare, Ireland. The candidate will initially be required to divide their time between the Beckman Coulter sites in Marburg, Germany and Clare, Ireland, for a period of 7-10 months. They will be working with the Operations, Manufacturing Engineering and QC teams at the Marburg site to learn the various production and testing processes to transfer back to Clare.

The candidate will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering team in Clare and equipment vendors in finalising Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and assisting with the execution of validation activities at the vendor site (FAT) and the Clare site (SAT).

The candidate will be required to review specific critical production processes, i.e. Impregnation and Lamination, to initiate and execute characterisation studies to establish robust manufacturing parameters for use of the new equipment in Clare prior to validation and production start-up.

The Technical Operations Scientist will work closely with cross functional teams within the Clare facility and sites in Germany and US on establishing IRIS Urine Strip production and manufacturing in Clare, ensuring the products are robust and meet the expectations of our customers and our global support organisations.

The successful candidate will perform a critical role ensuring supply of safe, reliable and effective diagnostic products to our customer, compliance of the product to product design, transferring knowledge of the current product design elements from the Design Centre into the Clare manufacturing facility. Establish inspection, in process testing and release criteria, updating and maintaining technical documentation, and completing timely investigations to support manufacturing or validation activities.

Participate in Kaizen events (i.e. VPM, SW, 3P, 4E, VSM, TPI etc) to aid in operator safety, project activities and improve production performance.

To be successful in this position the candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • Scientific/Engineering background one of more of the following disciplines:

    o Biochemistry/Clinical Chemistry o / In Vitro / Diagnostics / Point of Care testing. o Process Engineering o Mechanical Engineering

  • Understanding of equipment and process validation.

Qualification

/ Education and Experience Requirements: /

Third level qualification or higher in a Science discipline.

5 years’ relevant experience.

A good understanding of cGMP and ISO/FDA requirements is beneficial.

Ability to speak German an advantage.

The successful candidate will be initially be requested to spend a minimum of 50% of their time in Marburg, Germany prior to production start-up in Clare.

Full support will be provided to the successful candidate during their time in Marburg.

Additional travel may be required to equipment suppliers.

Minimum Travel (10%) may be required post production start-up in Clare.
