We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to enable design, integration, verification, and maintenance of key technologies on world-class, ultramodern analytical instruments. The candidate will collaborate with high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams engaging in all phases of the product development life cycle process, from concept realization through to commercialization and post-launch.
This position is part of the Engineering Multifunction/General - Systems Engineering team and will be on-site at Sciex, located in Concord, Ontario, Canada.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Perform precise mechanical and electro-mechanical assembling alongside design engineers or scientists.
Responsible to draft procedures, document issues and recommend design or process improvements based on assembly evaluation.
Work closely with engineers, scientists, and other engineering technologists to kit, assemble and integrate components and sub-assemblies for R&D-grade testbeds.
Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of testbeds (i.e., mass spectrometers) during early research and product commercialization phases, to maximize test-bed evaluation uptime
Execute experiments or characterization of instruments with guidance or instruction from designers or scientists.
Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment, and packaging.
Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Certificate/diploma as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist or similar.
Required: Minimum of 3 years of workplace experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist or similar.
Required: Mechanical assembly, mechanical fabrication, precision experience.
It would be a plus if you also have previous experience in:
Demonstrate experience with manufacturing processes and having direct experience in precision assembly and build of electro-mechanical prototypes (whether from a manufacturing or R&D environment) is a strong asset.
