We are seeking a/Mechanical Engineering Technologist/Technician/toenabledesign, integrationand verification of key technologies onworld-class, state-of-the-art analytical instruments. The role is part of the Hardware Product Development team. In this capacity, the candidate willbe part ofhigh-performance, multi-disciplinary teams participating in all phases of productdevelopment, including product commercializationand concept realization with our engineering and scientific community. This is a contract position with a duration of approximately 12 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Work closely with engineers, scientists and other engineering technologists to kit, assemble and integrate components and sub-assemblies for R&D-grade test-beds (i.e. mass spec instrumentation) * Collaborate with engineering and/or research scientists to conduct testing, and document measurements based upon experiments and evaluations. * Perform system-level troubleshooting of test-beds during early research and product commercialization phases of project to maximize test- bed evaluation uptime. * Work with systems engineer and technical leads to ensure that proper configuration management of testbeds are maintained during above-noted project phases


* Accreditation from a Canadian college or post-secondary institution as a/Mechanical Engineering Technologist/(or other relevant discipline with emphasis on electro-mechanical assembly, integration and test ) is a/requirement/ * /Eligibility/for certification by a provincial or territorial association (eg OACETT) is a/requirement/ * Familiarity with manufacturing processes, and having direct experience in precision assembly and build of mechanical or electro-mechanical prototypes (whether from a manufacturing or R&D environment ) is a/requirement/ * Demonstrated experience in using at least one high level Industry Standard 3D CAD software package (eg/CATIA, Pro E, Solidworks, etc/) is/strong asset./ * Preference will be given to candidates having between/3 and 5 years of workplace experience/in the above-mentioned capacity/(co-op experience may be considered if relevant to the role)/ * Demonstrated experience in the handling of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including basic troubleshooting, component removal/replacement and soldering repairs is a/strong asset/ * Candidate must be proactive, results-oriented, self-motivated and willing to be part of a larger team working in collaboration with a group engineers and scientists. * Candidate must be able to multi-task between work activities when required to do so. The ability to work to tight deadlines is essential.
* Candidate must have good communication skills and be familiar with a range of engineering principles andconcepts .

* Candidate must have good written and oral communication skills in English, and be able to create and share reports at the individual and group level.
