You will play a meaningful role in driving software product development efforts spanning our software platform and vertical applications for our scientific analytical product lines. Our software projects follow Agile development methodologies and build products for MS-Windows and cloud-based systems. Some projects also integrate with hardware projects developing our Mass Spectrometer instruments and peripherals.
The individual will provide oversight to a multi-functional team of software, verification, validation, user experience and technical writing professionals, and report to the R&D Project Management Office.
Lead the planning, controlling and coordination of a software project team to deliver and meet defined goals
Facilitate planning activities with key achievements, supervise progress against plans, and resolve appropriate corrective action
Empower teams to collaborate, communicate, and deliver on commitments, including driving ownership and accountability to the team.
Resolve project needs of resources/skills and equipment and ensure projects are delivered within the approved schedule, scope, and budget
Produce and deliver project-related communication such as status reports, visual management and progress metrics. Lead and measure the team's performance of project tasks
Supervise the execution and results of functions within the project to ensure they are in accordance with applicable Quality Management Processes
Ensure that the required project documentation is complete and archived, and that SW Development Processes are followed, within Agile practice
Participate in defining and rolling out Project Management standard methodologies and tools and evangelizing continuous improvement
Education and Experience:
10 years of software project management experience; including experience with both Agile and Waterfall software development environments is required. Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
Experience leading large software teams (10-20 people) and multiple simultaneous projects
PMP, ACP, and/or SCRUM Master certification
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must communicate effectively with the project team, Managers, and partners
Ability to optimally interact with all levels of management within an organization
Demonstrates good analysis, creativity, and problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize complicated priorities
Software development experience; life sciences background preferred and willing to seek out knowledge in technically scientifically relevant areas.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, MS Project, SharePoint or other resource management and tracking tools
Ability to travel occasionally
