Are you an experienced Software Project Manager looking to join an outstanding R&D team and immediately make a difference? Do you want to play a meaningful role in driving software product development efforts spanning SCIEX’s software platform, vertical applications, and cloud applications? Looking for challenges such as integrating software with complex hardware projects developing our Mass Spectrometer instruments and peripherals? Then SCIEX may be an opportunity for you!

This position will be located in Concord, Ontario as an on-site role.

Description

  • Manage software projects to develop Windows-based applications using C# and .Net for our mass spectrometer products.

  • Manage cross-functional teams of 4-8 people, including: software developers, software testers, technical writers, domain experts, etc. Strong ability to negotiate with functional managers for resources required to meet deliverables.

  • Work with the team to create a project plan (schedule and budget) and monitor progress against the plan, using standard PMP practices.

  • Follow the product development lifecycle process by completing project management related deliverables and ensure team members complete their deliverables and comply with quality procedures/processes.

  • Communicate project status to senior management and other stakeholders via presentations, reports, and a project tracking tools.

  • Help facilitate the resolution of project issues and help remove obstacles that are impeding the team's progress.

  • Assist in the continuous improvement initiatives for the project team, as well as the department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field.

  • Experience managing software development projects (Prefer 3+ years)

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams

  • Experience/knowledge of agile software development processes (e.g. SCRUM, eXtreme Programming, etc)

  • Strong decision-making skills

  • Ability to remain calm and apply critical thinking, even under pressure, and perform well in a busy environment. Comfortable managing with uncertainty and managing the "white space"

  • Demonstrated ability in project risk management

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and effectively negotiate with resource managers and stakeholders.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate with others to achieve results

  • Good team building skills - creating a sense of team driven by common goals, motivation, facilitation and conflict resolution. Willing to seek out feedback from stakeholders.

  • Actively seeks out knowledge in technically relevant areas. Can demonstrate self-directed skill development. Strong ability to understand and translate complex scientific concepts to stakeholders with varying degrees of understanding.

  • Ability to set & track project budgets, schedules, deliverables, etc.

  • Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence, Microsoft SharePoint, MS Project, or other resource management and tracking tools

  • PMP and/or ACP certification is highly beneficial

  • A software development background is highly beneficial

  • A Bio/Life Sciences background is highly beneficial

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Scaled Agile Methodology

  • Life sciences background

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
