Job Title: Electrical Drafting Technician

Coralville, IA

Purpose Statement

The Electrical Drafting Technician is responsible for producing detailed electrical and control panel drafting including schematics, interconnects, panel layout, and bill of materials that support the control system designs of products used in manufacturing of IDT’s innovative biology products.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop project related drawings including electrical schematics, electrical assemblies, wiring diagrams, panel layout, cable specification, network diagrams, and isometric drawings under supervision of design engineering associates.

  • Prepares and maintains manufacturing specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using EPLAN and TeamCenter PLM

  • Create, manage, and maintain electrical components for the control panels between EPLAN and Solid Edge CAD software. This includes parts, symbols, macros, reports templates within EPLAN and providing EPLAN support to associates in the Industrial Automation Team to meet departmental drafting and design standards.

  • Reviews and checks engineering drawings to departmental drafting standard and collaborates with other engineering teams to mechanically integrate control systems designs final product using Solid Edge

  • Update, maintain and revise existing control system designs under supervision of design engineering associates. Modifies and revises drawings through formal Engineering Change Order processes.

  • Maintaining good working relationships and communication with customer, panel builders, department managers, and other team members to coordinate design

Education, Licensure, Certification, Registration

  • Two-year technical degree in drafting technology or equivalent required

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of two years of demonstrable drafting work related with electrical/control panel design required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and multitask.

  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with EPLAN, and Solid Edge CAD software a plus

  • Familiarity with TeamCenter PLM a plus

Professional Experience

  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, UL, IEC, EN for Electrical Design Standards preferred
