The Director Technology Development has broad scope across critical markets who drives standard work and excellence across a group of senior professionals; the majority of whom are PhD scientists/engineers and/or possess >20 years of Pall experience. The team includes multiple senior associates with deep technical expertise. Each individual team member operates within a matrix structure to lead the development of technologies targeted at specific strategic growth markets. Team members are deeply engaged in strategy development, intimately aware of all the new product development (NPD) projects in flight within their specific markets, are active participants in most, and strongly influence portfolio prioritization. They are also accountable for developing and curating technology roadmaps. This would be “player-coach” position and will require “hands on” personal involvement providing technology leadership in a market to be determined in part based on the candidate’s qualifications.
This is a global role. Proximity to Port Washington, NY (USA), Cortland, NY (USA), Bad Kreuznach (Germany) and Dubai (UAE) considered a strong plus, but not a requirement.
Serves as the nucleating agent, bringing leadership thinking across the markets, setting priorities, driving excellence across the group, and judiciously working toward building common work.
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.
Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Makes major contributions to scientific literature and conferences.
This would be “player-coach” position and will require “hands on” personal involvement providing technology leadership in a market to be determined in part based on the candidate’s qualifications.
Drives continuous improvement activities and application of relevant DBS tools.
Leadership: Ability to influence decision making with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, bring teams to agreement.
Technical Focus: Exhibits deep understanding of the science and technology behind engineering materials and engineered products in industries such as energy, chemicals, and industrials Drives technical excellence, especially the execution of defined NPD initiatives and the development of platform technologies that fuel multiple products for multiple markets. Works across the organization to set priorities and shift resources according to business demands.
Communication: Interpersonal skills that build positive relationships and influence others, both within the business and across organizations. Ability to interact with all levels of the business (senior leaders to working teams), exceptionally good listening skills, able to present sophisticated and new ideas with clarity and simplicity.
Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data. Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation and execution.
Teamwork: collaborate effectively with others in the spirit of common objectives.
Minimum MS in Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, etc.) or Physical Sciences (Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, etc.) . PhD preferred.
10-15 years of experience.
Direct supervisory experience that includes other senior technical leaders.
Demonstrated track record of success at technology leadership, ranging from strategy development to NPD execution.
Ability to travel, as needed, both nationally and internationally.
Knowledge of filter design, fluid dynamics, chemical and hydromechanics, advanced membrane technology. (Desired)
Experience in a market facing role and/or MBA degree. (Desired)
Ability to assume larger roles as organizational needs dictate
