This position is the people leader of about three warehouse & logistics associates. This role will drive operational efficiencies and process improvements in materials and inventory management. Develop and implement State-of-the Art transportation, logistics and inventory systems / tools to reduce inventory, improve working capital and reduce costs. Lead, Develop and Implement advanced sourcing strategies that will drive direct and indirect cost savings. Follow and develop new procurement best practices, programs and procedures in a very dynamic, project-based, custom engineered environment.

This is a hybrid role that will have a focus on Global Warehouse Logistics as the core function, but will also fulfill Buyer duties as well.

This role is located in Cortland, New York.

Core Responsibilities:

Warehouse / Inventory Lead

  • Create policies and/or procedures for Shipping and Receiving activities

  • Implement processes for incoming inspection and approval of goods

  • Establish and monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems for Warehouse/Inventory and Logistics

  • Plan and implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements

  • Efficiently organize, stage and kit raw materials for issuing to assembly shops

  • Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios and prepare or file environmental certification applications

  • Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation

  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers

  • Resolve escalated problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues

  • Work with the Business Leaders / Managers, Procurement, Engineering Organizations to develop strategies to reduce inventory levels, shorten cycle times, increase quality, improve inventory turns, improve efficiency and maximize on-time delivery performance

  • Initiate, lead, Implement and execute supply agreements that achieve Supply Chain Management Objectives and support the needs of the business

Senior Buyer

  • Advanced negotiation and purchase of various components and commodities including complex commodities such as fabricated parts, pressure vessels, structural skids, final assembly, rotating equipment, buyout equipment, valves, instrumentation and buyout equipment

  • Reviews requisitions and Engineering releases for completeness to ensure items quoted are a match

  • Develop RFP's and RFQ's to support engineering specifications and project requirements

  • Cost Data Management - Ensure the most accurate and up to date material costs are updated and communicated across the business

  • Supplier Management – Ensure that suppliers are being evaluated on their performance and when required they are committed to and making improvements. Interviews, recommends and selects vendors/suppliers using an established supplier qualification process.

  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action

  • Accurately and at all times maintain Project Procurement Plans and Project Materials Budgets

  • Annual Cost Reduction Programs - develop a strategic plan to manage the total spend of specific categories and drive continual cost reduction

  • Annual Supply Agreements – develop and implement master suppler agreements for responsible categories within the schedule defined by Management

  • Commodity Teams - Participate with other Pall / Danaher entities, locations and employees to consolidate multiple business center discretionary volumes and use this leverage to negotiate further cost reductions on specific categories

  • Ensure the adherence to all required Danaher compliance programs and policies

  • Value Analysis Programs - Engage other business disciplines and vendors to develop methods of cost reduction through the use of new materials and designs

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies

  • Travel domestically and internationally

Assists Procurement Manager in the following areas:

  • Guidance & support of the procurement, logistics and warehouse staff.

  • Development of training initiatives for equipment/products purchased.

  • Help identify & implement business improvement initiatives.

  • Improve efficiencies in SAP processes as required or assigned.


  • BS in Business or Supply Chain Management with 5 to 7 years Procurement experience

  • 5 to 7 years Materials and Inventory Management experience

  • MRP / ERP materials planning system experience. SAP experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Prefer ISM certification or commitment to pursue on a yearly basis

  • Prefer CPIM certification or commitment to pursue on a yearly basis

  • Experience working with Applications & Project Engineers in a project environment.

  • Experience procuring custom engineered equipment.
