Pall Corporation is seeking a creative and results-oriented chemist as a Principal Scientist with a passion for photolithography, polymer chemistry and membrane science to join our R&D team in Port Washington, NY! This is an excellent career opportunity to take an active role in discovering and developing next-generation porous filters tailored for semiconductor fabrication processes and contributing to our fast-growing microelectronics business segment.
Your Role as Principal Scientist, Microelectronics Technology:
Conducts Research and engages in New Product Development (NPD) of advanced filtration projects independent of direct supervision. Provides R&D leadership within the group and cross-functionally as needed to drive innovation. Supports NPD roadmap using application knowledge from Semiconductor OEMs. Role is a member of our growing R&D team at the Filter Development Center of Excellence for Microelectronics. Goal is to develop state-of-the-art filtration, purification and separation products and processes for innovative semiconductor markets in photolithography applications.
Engage in product and process development for filter products targeting semiconductor photolithography applications including: chemically amplified, EUV, and MOF resists.
Engage and collaborate with key leaders across our organization to establish and drive a path for defect control solutions for ground breaking lithography applications.
Strengthen and be a factor in Pall Microelectronics IP with innovation and findings to enable next generation chip manufacturing technologies.
Maintains collaborations with other research and academic entities that enable breakthrough innovation.
Utilizes sound fundamentals like Design of Experiments (DOE).
Communicates clearly to leadership, team members, and other key partners.
Works with global R&D and engineering teams by sharing resources and overcoming cultural and language barriers.
Requires 10% travel both nationally and internationally.
Qualifications - Required
- Chemistry focused BS in Science or Engineering (MS or PhD highly preferred) with at least 8 years of R&D or product development experience is required.
Qualifications - Highly Preferred
Knowledge of progressive semiconductor wafer fabrication processes related to photolithography.
Demonstrated expertise in polymer chemistry with preference on post-functionalization experience. Expertise in photochemistry.
Good understanding of in-line yield and wafer inspection metrology.
Knowledge of Filter Design, Fluid dynamics, Chemical and Hydromechanics, advanced membrane technology and exposure to surface modification of inorganic or organic substrates.
Familiarity with a range of analytical techniques to analyze and quantify very small quantities of organic and inorganic chemical impurities related to on-wafer defects.
Experience with process optimization using DOE and process scale-up.
Leadership: ability to influence decision-making with or without authority, facilitate groups with different perspectives and bring teams to agreement. High tolerance for ambiguity.
Communication: Interpersonal skills that build positive relationships and influence others, both within the business and across organizations.
