Job Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Remote

Purpose Statement:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing management with complete, accurate and timely financial information. This is accomplished by maintaining proper accounting records, researching/analyzing account reconciliations and individual transactions, and implementing controls and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). This position will assist with accruals and other general ledger transactions including month-end procedures, the consolidation process, various tax related assignments, and the Company’s compliance programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Contributes to the integrity of the trial balance by preparing general ledger entries based on independently verifiable documentation; maintains the supporting records and files

  • Performs month-end close duties as assigned accurately and on time, including the analysis of accounts and financial statement variances as well as the preparation of account reconciliations, and standard and non-recurring journal entries in accordance with US GAAP

  • Participates in the development and implementation of accounting procedures, processes and internal controls documentation by developing a deep understanding of current procedures; constantly recommends changes for improved controls, documentation, accuracy, timeliness and efficiency

  • Responds to management inquiries by researching and interpreting data

  • Maintains knowledge of industry accounting practices and regulatory requirements pertaining to the Company

  • Develops a strong working knowledge of, and become an effective user and resource for, the SAP ERP system

  • Assists the Financial Reporting team members for inter/intracompany and consolidations procedures

  • Supports IDT’s tax function administratively to the extent needed

  • Actively participates in the Company’s compliance program including SOX testing, balance sheet reviews, and other ad hoc projects

  • Maintains the Company’s lease administration tool

  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

  • CPA highly preferred

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of professional accounting experience required

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Working knowledge of SAP for General Ledger is preferred

  • Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required

  • Prior experience with internal controls over financial reporting (SOX) preferred

  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities to meet deadlines on short notice, without losing composure

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to draft reports, business correspondence, policies, etc.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office skills, especially Word and Excel

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
