Shift: 6:50AM - 3:20PM Monday - FridayPosition Overview
This utility position is responsible to safely perform job functions at the highest level of quality, in the toolmaking department. It is also responsible for providing tool support to department manufacturing associates, department supervisors, engineers and designers to optimize process efficiency. The person in this role will provide accurate paperwork and record keeping. Must have the ability to use measuring and test equipment as required, follow all company rules and policies as well as OSHA/EPA regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform direct labor tasks as assigned
Produce tools, dies, and parts of machines used to manufacture product
Build and repair cutting and shaping devices for machine tools, devices that guide the cutting tools (jigs), and devices that firmly hold the metal being cut (fixtures)
Make and repair gauges and other measuring devices
Hands-on troubleshooter for equipment and production problems
Evaluate existing processes for potential improvements
Produce prototypes as assigned
Accurately use measuring devices
Use protective equipment as needed
Commit and become knowledgeable of Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Department
Assist other team members as instructed by your Team Leader or Supervisor
Maintain accurate records, logs and collect any necessary data for use by Engineering
Perform other duties as required
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of tool making experience
Proficient in mathematics, reading blueprints and doing precise handwork
Knowledge and commitment to Continuous Improvement
Experience in the preparation and maintenance of records
Good mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability
Maintain an acceptable level of attendance (as measured by the Attendance Policy)
Able to program & operate CNC equipment (Lathe & Mill)
Able to read and understand written instructions
Must be accurate with both calipers and micrometer
Strong mechanical aptitude
Strong team attitude
Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred
Experience in working with steel microfibers, preferred
Experience in die making / maintenance & setup, preferred
Will be trained and certified on all aspects of the position. Training is typically conducted over a prescribed period and may require working at night. When and if training certification is required, it may consist of taking and passing one or more comprehensive test(s) based on classroom materials, computer training information and/or field hands-on training comprehension demonstrations. The incumbent will be asked to renew his/her certification at regular intervals when or if lack of certification level knowledge is demonstrated. Must maintain a satisfactory level certification when required.
Ability to lift and carry over 50 lbs. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, reach, squat, kneel, push, and pull for long periods of time. Must be capable to steadily use the hands for the operation and manufacturing of equipment. Able to climb a ladder and flex the upper and lower body.
Must be able to work alone and around others. Be able to have verbal and face-to-face contact with others. Must be flexible to work various shifts, work hours, different days of the week, and extended days. Able to work during daytime or nighttime. Must be able to withstand temperature changes, work in greater than ambient temperature inside and/or outside, and around dirt, dust and/or hazardous chemical materials. Each incumbent is assigned a pre-determined work schedule to follow by their Team Lead or Work Center Supervisor.
