This utility position is responsible for efficiently performing all tasks related to the Fiber/Web Department in a safe manner. It is also responsible for providing accurate paperwork and record-keeping. Must have the ability to use measuring and test equipment as required, and follow all company rules and policies as well as OSHA/EPA regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems. Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.

  • Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in work orders.

  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.

  • Maintain daily cycle count process.

  • Pick and stage material for production lines

  • Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using handheld scanners or other software.

  • Load and unload material from various carriers

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and other 5S standards, assist supervisor by identifying and continuously improving housekeeping and 5S organization standards with warehouse/material handling employees.

  • Properly store and accurately transact all warehouse materials.

  • Assist in verifying the accurate completion of all required warehouse tasks/transactions

  • Assist with personnel assignments to complete required tasks

  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.

  • Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for the effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.

  • Inform designated employees or departments of items loaded or problems encountered Examine freight to determine loading sequences.

  • Evaluate employee performance by providing feedback to the warehouse supervisor. Assist supervisor with feedback on the preparation of new employee performance checks (90, 180reviews) and annual performance appraisals.

  • Perform the same work duties as those supervised or perform more difficult or skilled tasks or assist in their performance.

  • Assist supervisor with preparing and maintaining work records and reports of information such as employee time and wages, daily receipts, or inspection results.

  • Provide new employee training and orientation regarding facility safety procedures, powered lift equipment, hand scanners, receiving and material handling procedures, SAP data input, and other tasks as

  • Participate in and lead current staff (when applicable) in training sessions regarding safety, material handling, equipment, or process changes or improvements.

  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.

  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, etc.

  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment. Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.

  • Keep records on the use or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.

  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.

  • Provide assistance or direction to another stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard worker.

  • Participate in other duties as needed, including but not limited to root cause analysis, project team assignments, and safety initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent

  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is desired

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work within a team

  • Able to read and understand written instructions.

  • Must be accurate with both calipers and micrometer

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Strong team attitude

  • Forklift experience preferred, must pass Pall certification requirements

  • Must be familiar with other warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, docking stations, scales

  • Strong knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP system and Microsoft Office required Must be able to work any shift, flexible to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of picking, kitting, kanban.

  • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment which requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling , and lifting of 501bs on a regular basis

  • In-depth knowledge of warehousing and supply chain principles and processes to include DOT regulations Three years of material handling experience, shipping and receiving experience preferred Understanding of requirements for LTL, small parcel, exports, UPS/FedEx High school diploma required.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry over 50 lbs. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, reach, squat, kneel, push, and pull for long periods of time. Able to climb a ladder and flex the upper and lower body. Must be able to read and write simple statements. Able to analyze, memorize, conduct and comprehend simple mathematical tasks. Be able to make decisions and have sound judgment.
