The Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer , reports to the President, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. This role will be USA-remote.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership team for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, t he SVP & CMO serves as a strategic leader who will direct a team of cross functional, multi-disciplinary seasoned professionals and stakeholders to accomplish actions and objectives in the support of product development, commercialization, and life cycle management.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Spearhead the development of innovative products and diagnostic assays to improve health in new markets and drive new-to-world technologies.
Lead a team that helps develop markets for new-to-world diagnostics solutions by engaging with physician specialties and hospital committees.
Serve as a primary subject matter expert to Beckman Coulter and pilot communication on behalf of Beckman to global regulatory authorities.
Lead medical risk assessments with senior management, review and advise on medical risk assessments for complaints, and update and create risk assessment documents related to potential product specific malfunctions.
Establish and maintain external academic, biopharma, and clinical expert relationships and keep abreast of medical and clinical best practices and innovative technologies and emerging biomarkers.
Develop key relationships with professional associations and foremost clinical experts to stay informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies, as well as interface with regulatory bodies regarding product discussions and questions.
Provide medical input to champion new product development teams as needed during the product development, ensuring achievement of quality standards and customer needs.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Medical degree (MD, DO, MBBS) and 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years clinical experience
6+ years demonstrated people leadership experience managing inclusively and developing multi-disciplinary professionals in a highly matrixed environment
Substantial demonstrated experience working with global regulatory bodies & notified bodies, including but not limited to the FDA, CFDA, Irish Medical Board, MHRA, BSi, etc.
Experienced in oversight of risk assessment, patient safety, quality assurance processes
Proven expertise in technical writing (e.g., published manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, investigator brochures, or the clinical sections of PMAs and 510K submissions)
Medical device, diagnostic, or pharma industry experience and demonstrated success with product development and commercialization
Working knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics
The successful candidate will be:
A decisive influencer possessing exceptional engagement and relationship building skills with physicians, lab staff, marketing reps, and external stakeholders to provide scientific support to the company’s business initiatives
Agile navigating in a complex matrix environment capitalizing on collaborative, motivational method
A proven presenter able to effectively connect with the scientific audience, ability to explain complex medical issues simply to wide audiences
Able to travel domestic and international up to 50% as business needs are identified.
