The Manufacturing Science and Engineering Manager will develop and lead the implementation of engineering activities for the site which includes multiple production value streams (formulations, filling, assembly, and continuous production processes). This role will be instrumental in the execution of the business growth initiatives and large capital equipment projects.
This position is located onsite in Richmond, Illinois. Relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities we will trust you with:
Develop and implement an engineering plan to improve production processes, implement equipment and layout upgrades to optimize production efficiency, and expand capacity to support growth and improve product quality.
Build and lead material and labor productivity programs, which include both process and product design changes.
Develop and drive process characterization initiatives to understand and improve process stability and capability.
Lead the on-time and on-budget execution of manufacturing engineering projects and activities that reduce safety risks, improve quality, and enhance delivery.
Support and run the site validation program including planning and performing validation testing; responsible for ensuring ongoing design and documentation of changes.
Define, evaluate, and select equipment required for support process upgrades, capacity expansion, and new product introductions.
Partner with R&D to successfully transfer and scale up new products into the manufacturing environment.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to find opportunities and provide improved production capabilities.
Manage department and project budgets and implementation schedules to plan and forecast.
Develop team and grow talent in the organization to meet current and future business needs.
Use the Danaher business system to execute engineering activities.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related degree.
3+ years of supervisory and management experience, preferably as a leader of engineers, in a regulated industry.
Experience working with and supporting manufacturing in a cGMP regulated environment, including understanding of GMP, ISO, FDA, FMEA, and DFM
Proven team leader able to foster multi-functional collaboration
Experience with designing, layout, testing and validating production processing and equipment (i.e. URS, SAT, FAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ)
Experience developing and leading a multi-year improvement roadmap leveraging tools to innovate, conceptualize, and inspire team to deliver
Hands-on experience using lean manufacturing and/or a business system to deliver results
Able to demonstrate sound project management and resource planning skills to deliver on multiple priorities and tasks, including usage of outsourced contractors and service providers and selecting equipment vendors
Willingness to spend a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor to understand opportunities and develop methods for improvement
Experience implementing and using production statistics such as CpK, Ppk, DOE, etc.
Highly self-motivated with strong interpersonal, and influencing skills that is able to inspire change
Travel: 10%: Travel may be required for training, OEM supplier visits, customer support, and/or ad hoc
