Danaher Corporation Field Service and Applications Specialist (Intern), Molecular Diagnostic in Dodoma, Tanzania
Position Summary: The Intern under Field Service and Applications Specialist category will provide in-field technical support to grow the diagnostic product user base. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cepheid instruments, technical presentations, and customer training. The role involves collaboration with other Field Service and Applications Specialist ground team, Technical Support, Service Coordination, and from time-to-time, Sales, Marketing, global business units to meet customer needs and exceed expectations.
Job Purpose
Technical Responsibilities:
Perform on-site installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of diagnostic systems.
Integrate Cepheid instruments into customer labs, supporting evaluation and validation processes.
Document installations, customer interactions, and follow-up actions in Salesforce (SFDC).
Conduct preventive maintenance, repairs, and new installations, ensuring systems operate optimally.
Oversee spare parts stock and inventory management.
Commercial Responsibilities:
Drive demand generation for testing services, identify opportunities for new assays, and facilitate rapid adoption within the market.
Support sales teams across Tanzania and neighboring countries, helping to expand Cepheid’s presence and influence.
Training Responsibilities:
- Complete all assigned training modules thoroughly and within set timelines, maintaining high standards of knowledge and proficiency.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years in the medical diagnostics field.
Background in Molecular Biology and lab automation systems; exposure to GeneXpert is an advantage.
Fluency in Kiswahili and English, both spoken and written.
Aptitude for technical support and training in clinical diagnostics.
Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Qualities and Competencies:
Exceptional customer service skills and a solid understanding of the medical diagnostics market.
Self-driven, goal-oriented, and dedicated to achieving results.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with cultural sensitivity and adherence to Danaher’s high compliance standards.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to work 80% of the time on-site with customers.
Valid driver’s license; owning a vehicle is beneficial.
Flexibility to travel within Tanzania, Eastern Africa, and potentially globally.
Availability for occasional after-hours and weekend work.
