*Summary Purpose of the Position: * The Central Europe Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting for all assigned entities within the (Germany, Austria, (Switzerland) & Eastern Europe) This position will be responsible for building and developing a strong accounting team and developing strategies for use of accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely US GAAP and Statutory financial statements as well as a strong SOX environment. The Central Europe Controller manages a finance team for the countries responsible for all compliance related tasks (Accounting, Tax & Stats, SOX and GL support) to ensure that work is completed in a timely, compliant accurate and efficient manner.
Main Duties: * Lead, manage and motivate a team of 10 associates led by Country Controllers or Accountants with Tax & Stats and GL support. * Establish a strong team structure to meet current and future needs: develop, mentor direct reports, emphasising professional development and personal growth through regular performance reviews against agreed objectives and development plans. * Oversight responsibility for regional financial reporting, external financial reporting and indirect tax compliance and SOX controls. Ensuring that operationally have adequate systems of internal controls and suitable monitoring procedures are in place to ensure integrity of the financial statements and ensure that all business risks are properly identified, addressed and reported. * Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closes, including overview of balance sheet summaries and account reconciliations to conform to audit requirements. * Proactively drive process improvement, identify quick win opportunities, target high return improvements and seek to eliminate/reduce non-value added activities to meet EMEA and global finance objectives. * Oversight of VAT processes (including systems), including process improvement recommendations and managing the implementation of those * Oversight of EMEA statutory activities, ensuring standard procedures are put in place where possible to facilitate this and that the structure is as efficient & effective as possible. * Create and deliver the annual strategic plan for the EMEA CFS Controllership area. * Act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors for statutory related matters * Work with country leaders & legal on approvals and board resolutions * Involvement in creation and liquidation of EMEA entities
* Professional qualification, minimum Bachelor’s degree, Accounting Diploma
* Strong technical (including knowledge of US / Local GAAP and IFRS) understanding * Strong communication and analytical skills * Acts decisively and able to influence others * Manage & coordinate internal & external Audit requirements
* Proven track record of meeting commitments and achieving deadlines with the highest standards of ethics and integrity * Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and ability to deal with competing priorities and deadlines * Good understanding of financial controls, SOX, Corporate Governance and risk management * Knowledge and experience of SAP or equivalent integrated ERP system * Good working knowledge of SAP & Hyperion
* Experience of managing teams however with extensive hands on mentality * At least 5-10 years business experience * Experience of statutory and indirect tax reporting * Fluent in German and in English
