Position Overview

The Controls Engineer provides support for manufacturing systems including software and hardware at local site on production equipment and new equipment projects. This person will also be responsible for system administration, deployment, development, and support of all relevant equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical mentorship to users and management for software/hardware related issues and queries

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of relevant hardware and software

  • Support local manufacturing systems

  • Ensure appropriate related procedures are implemented

  • Develop an understanding of department specific applications

  • Ability to diagnose problems and carry out calibration/ verification or modification etc.

  • See opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service, efficiency and effectiveness

  • Record all support activities

  • Work to meet the departmental key performance indicators

  • Maintain an up to date record on compliance training, in relevant business systems

  • To follow relevant legal requirements and the Company Health & Safety Policy

  • Report and address any safety defects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Up-to-date professional certification in the relevant technical area

  • Knowledge of PC hardware and associated peripherals

  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems and their integration with PLC software / hardware

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server

  • Knowledge of Rockwell and Omron Application software

  • PC Operating Systems, (Win NT to Win 10)

  • Experience of design and integration of PLC and SCADA based control system solutions

  • Knowledge of C/C++/C# Coding, Structured Text, Visual Basic, Sequential Function Chart

  • Knowledge of Network Services -LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN
