Position Overview

As Shift Leader of Picking/Boxing, you are part of the Logistics Team, leading the daily logistics for direct and indirect team members. You will be responsible for assigning work to team members, dealing with production or logistics issues, and training new hires and associates. You will be responsible for achieving the goals set for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (including Inventory and Productivity).

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensuring associates fill out all required documentation (scorecards, paperwork, etc.)

  • Onboarding and training new associates

  • Consistent voice of quality for the area – including proper handling of goods and coaching of others to ensure materials are handled with care so that quality parts can be produced

  • Provide direction to Internal Logistics Team Leaders as needed throughout the shift

  • Verify that products are efficiently moving through to each work group center

  • Operates equipment and assists in material transactions – willing and able to learn all processes accurately, safely, and with quality in mind

  • Supports daily operations in the Warehouse for the critical daily management metrics

  • Instruct and align with regulations and best practices

  • Align with and enforce required PPE

  • Complete daily PIT Inspections

  • Prioritize safety daily – ensuring associates can stay safe while performing daily functions

  • Identify and investigate any unsafe situations

  • Lead and monitor 5S in the workplace

  • Ensure quality is evident in daily work – delivering high quality product that meets all customer and quality specifications

  • Follow required GDP/GMP procedures

  • Complete all required Smart Solve and Compliance training

  • Report and fill out NC’s for nonconforming product when identified

  • Ensure the team works according to regulatory guidelines, and coaching to ensure we deliver on ISO and other regulatory requirements

  • Compliance with the daily schedule, call out any deviations to the VSL

  • Own achieving the required output rate

  • Work according to the First-In First-Out (FIFO) principle

  • Monitor and align with detailed Work-In Process (WIP) levels

  • Implement transactions as required and follow standard inventory control processes

  • Deliver output as determined by the daily schedule

  • Participate in problem solving to minimize downtime and improve throughput

  • Contributes to the continuous improvement (DBS) culture, including:

  • Identifying waste in process

  • Participating in and leading kaizen events

  • Assisting Shift Leaders in the Problem-Solving Process (PSP) to understand gaps in cell performance, investigate causes to understand root cause, and put in robust countermeasures to drive improvements

  • Supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives and projects which increase the overall effectiveness of the manufacturing operation

  • Promote a learning environment

  • Facilitate cross training of associates to ensure team can be flexible to meet demand

  • Emphasize employee involvement and empower team to deliver great results

  • Train associates and follow up with VSL to hold accountable to required performance

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED)

  • Minimum of three (5) years of work experience in warehousing or logistics

  • Basic math, reading and writing skills

  • Proficient computer skills to access production information as required

  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word specifically)

  • SAP or other ERP experience (specifically in a warehousing environment), preferred
