The Senior Director of Global Revenue Accounting is responsible for providing executive leadership and practical direction for the global Finance and Accounting organization in the areas of revenue recognition, related accounting policies and guidelines.
This position is part of the Global Controller organization will be remote within the United States working PST hours with monthly travel to the Bay Area.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Be a business partner to the Sales leadership and Order Management teams to understand their needs, provide options and recommendations for deal structure and contract language to enable revenue growth while ensuring accounting compliance.
Own the revenue accounting close process globally with emphasis on North America. Responsibilities include accurate accounting, revenue cut-off procedures, close procedures, internal control monitoring and compliance. Provide leadership for revenue recognition for Europe and APAC regions
Be the champion for all lease accounting, including OTL/STL reviews for the growing instrument rental business. Guidance on worldwide Lessee accounting including embedded lease analysis, and disclosures
Ensure accurate calculation and recording of distributor rebates.
Preform revenue accounting under ASC 606, including MEA analysis, reporting of UPO commitments, sales training, managing the revenue help desk and other disclosures.
Partner with Regional Controllers and Director of Consolidations & Reporting to review and report financial results and statistics for international entities, balance sheet adequacy, investigate unexpected accounting issues.
Lead cross functional projects to resolve complex accounting challenges resulting from the revenue business model changes, or other reasons and implement new or modified revenue accounting standards in collaboration with Danaher.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Economics and an active CPA
14 years of relevant experience with a bachelor degree OR 12 years with a Master's degree and ideally 4 years in a public accounting setting with audit experience AND 4 years managing people.
Experience with Revenue recognition at a multi-billion-dollar manufacturing company
Proven business acumen; experience providing business support to commercial teams
Outstanding organizational skills, project management of large-scale/global initiatives.
Experience with larger ERP systems (SAP) and related data across a global business.
Ability to travel internationally according to business needs
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Big 4 preferable but not required if candidate possesses relevant experience
Medical device or biotech experience is a plus.
Experience working in a global, matrixed environment
