This is a fully remote position and can be located anywhere in the US near a major airport. Several locations have been listed for marketing purposes but only one position is available.
The Commodity Manager drives strategic supply chain initiatives related to Sea-Bird’s products and services requirements. Coordinate the purchase of commodities, update our inventory strategy, and liaise with suppliers to ensure the stability of our supply chain in line with both Sea-Bird and Danaher strategy. Have significant interaction with R&D, Production, Engineering, Sales, Product Management, and other Danaher sites.
Lead key supplier relationships, construct, and negotiate critical supply contracts, including assembling, and analyzing market data, evaluating supply alternatives and crafting negotiating strategies. Participate in design reviews with R&D and suppliers on manufacturability & raw material selection in order to achieve most optimal component / service cost. This individual will support, supervise, evaluate, projects specific to all Sea-Bird sites whilst ensuring policies and procedures regarding compliance, commitments, early involvement, supplier selection, supplier evaluation, and supplier development are understood and implemented.

Role and Duties:
Deliver on both favorable Net Material and Indirect Purchase Price Variance (PPV) by working with current supply base and sourcing new partners, while ensuring the highest quality of products/services.
Drive the reduction of sole source risk within the supply chain to elevate on-time delivery and pursue the consolidation of supply base where prudent to maximize cost savings opportunities.
Lead annual supplier business reviews with strategic suppliers. Represent the Sea-Bird cross functional team in the review and provide feedback to improve supplier relations in the areas of on-time delivery, cost, inventory reduction, and favorable payment terms.
Take initiative on early sourcing involvement supporting new product development teams with effective category strategies.
Monitor supply chain risk by leading risk assessments and taking effective countermeasures to reduce overall risk in the supply chain.
Work closely with vendors and hold them accountable for providing favorable payment terms to Sea-Bird.
Mentor other members of the supply chain team to think and align strategically on supply chain objectives.
Resolve vendor disputes and any commodity-related issues.
Update inventory strategies where needed to support production and lead stock quantities.
Education, Background and Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field
6+ years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain.
5+ years of supplier management experience in a manufacturing environment – electronics and machined component experience preferred.
Knowledge of supplier processes and supply chain risk factors including experience in assessing and mitigating risk in the supply base.
Experience with supplier metrics & measurement methodologies and supporting systems.
