This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious professional to contribute to the development and progression of our Production Planning team and global Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes and systems.

We are looking for a candidate who is interested in a part-time role OR internship opportunity. We are open to students who are in school in a related Supply Chain discipline.

Roles & Responsibilities: As a Material Planner at Abcam, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of our products to customers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating efficient daily, weekly, and monthly order schedules, based on customer demand and reliability/lead time of material delivery.

  • Leading initiatives to resolve supplier delays, material errors, and material supply constraints.

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance inventory utilization for optimal delivery performance.

  • Ensuring planning schedules align with customer and business needs, adhering to best-in-class on-time, in-full delivery (OTIF).

  • Work closely with our Procurement colleagues to reduce over-spending.

  • Have a focus on working inventory turns to make sure we are not under or over stocked.

  • Work together with the Production Planners to understand the Raw Material demand.

  • Making recommendations for KPI measurements and data gathering improvements.

  • Troubleshoot and root cause system and process issues, initiating improvement projects, and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders for timely delivery.

  • Support the integration of our products into our Oracle ERP system by aligning our planning attributes with the inventory strategy.

Qualifications:

To thrive in the role of Material Planner at Abcam, we are seeking candidates with a degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience. Your professional background should include experience in a manufacturing supply chain planning environment, or hands-on involvement in biological or pharmaceutical manufacturing, demonstrating a solid understanding of planning issues.

In addition to your academic and professional qualifications, we value individuals with strong leadership and influence skills. Your familiarity with supply chain planning aspects of ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle, would be beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel, is expected.

Your track record should highlight your ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize tasks, and efficiently multitask to achieve results. Successful candidates will bring a fresh perspective to challenging and complex supply constraints, applying different planning methodologies effectively.

We are particularly interested in candidates with an understanding of LEAN and Continuous Improvement (CI) principles. Your expertise in initiating and supporting significant change initiatives aligns with our commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in the life sciences industry.
